"Back
To School" Message summary: As children return to school may each of us increase in learning and fully acknowledge the truth. In doing so we will grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Listen
to our message
on your audio
player. Buses are now transporting again on our country road since we have two schools, a private Christian school and a one room Amish schoolhouse called Scenic View. This morning I drove two Amish teachers from their homes to Scenic View and another to their Amish school two miles away. These are the same teachers I transported last year. This
afternoon I
will transport
two first time
teachers to
their homes
from a brand
new school on
Milton Grove
Road. It
should be
interesting to
hear how their
first day
went. Do you
remember your
first day of
school? As
we consider
the first day
of school let
us examine a
perspective
about
learning. Our
first text
from Proverbs
states, "A
wise person
will hear and
increase in
learning". We
surely live in
the most
"educated"
period in
human history
judged by the
amount of
people who
have attended
or are
attending
formal
educational
institutions.

![]() On
Saturday
morning I
shared a few
minutes about
my friendship
with Jim
Schmidt who
went to be
with the Lord
just over two
weeks ago. We
met Jim and
his wife
Dottie at a
conference in
Boston over 25
years ago when
we were both
in a large
exhibition
hall
presenting our
respective
ministries.
After his
retirement Jim
worked with
SEND, a
mission
agency,
organizing
missions trips
overseas
particularly
in Russia,
helping to
plant
churches.
After the
service a lady
approached us
and told us
that Jim had
been her youth
group leader
some 50 years
ago. Now
that's leaving
an impact!

![]() ![]() We
often mention
our enjoyment
of both bike
riding and our
pets. On
Saturday we
took our two
maltipoos on a
ride along the
Susquehanna
River in their
new pet
trailer. It
was a first
for them and
Rosie
especially had
a difficult
time adjusting
but will do so
in time.

![]() This
is the empty
lot where the
Amish will
build the new
Grandview
Heights school
on Milton
Grove Road
where I picked
the new
teachers up
today. For the
first several
weeks they
will meet in
the upper
floor of a
multi-purpose
barn where
they also hold
church
services. Once
they start
building, the
new school
will go up
very quickly!
Finally
today:
This
morning I
asked the
teachers what
they did over
the summer. A
common work
for Amish
girls is
making fresh
flower
arrangements
grown in their
gardens or
greenhouses
and selling
them at
roadside
stands such as
the one in
this photo.
Their prices
generally run
from $6.00 to
$12 depending
on the size of
the bouquet.
We were
pleased to see
fresh peaches
offered at
this produce
stand!
