"Rescued"
Message
summary: Today we consider this wonderful truth we
can each personalize: God has rescued me from the dominion
of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of His
beloved Son in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of
my sins.
"For He rescued us from
the dominion of darkness, and transferred us to the
kingdom of His beloved Son in whom we have redemption, the
forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:13).
Yesterday I had an
appointment for physical therapy regarding my shoulder
injury from my bike accident several weeks ago. It was along
Main Street in Mount Joy and during the appointment several
fire and rescue vehicles raced by in front of the building.
I commented to the therapist that there must have been
something big that happened. Indeed there was, but not what
you would expect!
When I got home I got a
notification that first responders rescued two people stuck
in a chocolate factory tank in Elizabethtown just a few
miles west of us. This factory makes multiple products many
of us enjoy, including M&M's, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers
and Dove chocolate bars. I sure hope they clean that tank
out really good before resuming production!
They were safely rescued but
taken to the hospital as a precaution. So far I have not
read any details about what led to the incident but it
sounds rather "fishy" to me.
It was funny reading the
comments on the news site:
1) Was
one of them named Augustus Gloop?
2) The
problem is they went inside and by the time they tried to
leave they had gained 600 pounds.
3) Were
they filming for a movie?
4) They
were removing all the W's out of the M&M's
5)
Death by chocolate
Considering this rescue of these two from a tank of chocolate prompts a consideration of another successful rescue mission; when God set out to rescue the souls of the human race by sending His only begotten Son. "For He (God) rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son" "Rescue" translates the Greek word "rhuomai" which emphasizes the deliverance from peril due to a mighty act of power. In the New Testament "rhuomai" is always associated with God as the Rescuer and with a person as the object of His rescue. The wages of sin made us liable to eternal death and trapped us in the kingdom of Satan making us subject to his rule and authority placing us in bondage to our old (sin) nature inherited from Adam. God marvelously rescued us from this awful, hopeless condition. This rescue involved a spiritual relocation "from the dominion of darkness" where, due to our sinful nature, we have all lived out our lives. But God gloriously "transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son" where we were rescued from the dominion of darkness which is Satan's realm and transferred into the kingdom of light which is Christ's realm, for He declared, "I am the light of the world"! Today among all the noise and busyness and worries and strife and all the other peace robbers of life, let's verbalize this wonderful truth: God has rescued me from the dominion of darkness and transferred me into the kingdom of His beloved Son in whom I have redemption, the forgiveness of my sins. You alone can rescue,
You alone can save
You alone can lift us from the grave You came down to find us led us out of death To You alone belongs the highest praise Be
encouraged today, (Hebrews 3:13)
Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily
prayer: Loving Father, You rescued
us from the dominion of darkness and
transferred us into the kingdom of Your
beloved Son in whom we have redemption,
the forgiveness of sins. Where would we
be today without the redemptive work of
Jesus who bore the pain and disgrace of
our sins that we might be forgiven and
receive eternal life. We give You praise
now and forevermore through Christ Jesus
our Lord in whose name we pray. Amen.

today:
This
