"The Unwanted King"

Message summary: Today we have a choice as to whether we submit to the Lordship and Kingdom of Jesus Christ or reject Him and essentially proclaim, "We don't want this man to be our king". We pray that each reader will join Brooksyne and me in choosing to serve and worship the Lord and joyfully proclaim, "I want this Man to be my King!"

"We don't want this man to be our king" (Luke 19:14). "Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen" (1 Timothy 1:17).

Humanity has always had trouble with leadership. In a sense it began in the garden with rebellion against the Creator/Leader God when Adam and Eve essentially rejected God's way. All through the long ages not only kingdoms but leaders have come and gone. Some retire, others are deposed or fail to win an election, while some are violently overthrown, but they all eventually died.

It's no different in our present age and now here in the USA we are in the midst of a very nasty presidential race with very strong opinions on leadership and two very polarized camps. Regarding each candidate there are many voices saying, "We don't want this man to be our president". Regardless of who wins many will be very unhappy and apart from a God-sent revival we expect increasing strife.

But today let us consider another Leader whom we are called to follow. This is not a matter of decision for the less than 5% of the world's population who live here in the USA but for every human being alive in every age. The majority reject this Leader.

Jesus told the Parable of the Ten Minas recorded in Luke 19:11-27 shortly before His death. In the parable He is likened to a King who came from a distant land whom His subjects hated (v.14). Today let us especially consider this blunt expression of rejection, "We don't want this man to be our king".

Jesus is essentially applying the attitude of the people in the parable toward Himself. He had come into this world "to seek and to save that which was lost" (Luke 19:10). Thank God for those who have received His message and been saved. But there are others who doubted it and yet others who violently reject Christ's message and His provision.

He is the eternal King whose kingdom will never end since He shall reign forever and ever. Yet many still refuse to acknowledge Him as King and unashamedly declare, "We don't want this man to be our king".

The apostle John wrote, "He came to that which was His own, but His own did not receive Him" (John 1:11). And for the last 2000 years men and women are given the choice of whom they want to worship and follow.
Pilate queried the people at Christ's trial, "What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" and for each of us this remains life's dominant question.

Today we have a choice as to whether we submit to the Lordship and Kingdom of Jesus Christ or reject Him and essentially proclaim, "We don't want this man to be our king". We pray that each reader will join Brooksyne and me in choosing to serve and worship the Lord and joyfully proclaim, "I want this Man to be my King!"

Today, as many ignore or even seek to impeach Him join us in exalting this great King. Let us all boldly declare, "He's my King!" Jesus cannot be impeached for He is unimpeachable. He is the King Eternal!
"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen" (1 Timothy 1:17).
Be encouraged today,

Stephen & Brooksyne Weber

Praying manDaily prayer: Father, You are immortal, invisible, the only wise King. All creation is subject to Your authority so we, along with millions of other committed believers, choose to bow our knee and lift our hands toward You, our blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone is immortal. You live in unapproachable light, but we can and do worship You in Spirit and in truth. We worship and honor You in this life, gladly receiving Jesus as our unimpeachable King, and will do so through the eons of time. Amen.

We want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of approximately half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive compensation. Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each would provide half of our ministry expenses and income.

If you would consider making a donation to our ministry see here for more information.
