Yesterday
was rather cold and blustery but still beautiful.
Near New Holland we passed this Amish school with
the children out for recess

Peace That 'God
Knows'"
Message summary: May we all experience the peace that "God knows". Listen to this message on your audio player. "O LORD, You have searched me and You know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; You are familiar with all my ways" (Psalm 139:1-3). "Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, You are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me" (Psalm 139:7-10). As many of you know, many late model cell phones have a feature that constantly knows its location. Mine knows where I am and can project where I am going apparently based upon my location history. For instance early on Tuesday morning I receive a notification with the distance and directions to a company we typically visit Tuesday morning in Lebanon County. At some point each day it must sense we are ready to head home and helpfully gives us directions, although I rarely rely on GPS. The phone also records where a photo is taken using the GPS to very precisely pinpoint the location. That's a nifty feature and a reminder of the many helpful uses of GPS. Recently a Japanese man was arrested for reportedly stalking a pop star and attacking her at her home, according to Japanese news. Allegedly, this man found the woman’s home by studying photos she posted on social media, observing a train station reflected in her eyes, finding that train station using Google Street View, waiting for her at the train station, and following her home. (link to article below) In one way or another so many now have access to precisely where we are! While this can be very comforting when we're in trouble and need rescued it's also quite scary. That's a privacy concern that many have although I'm such a small fry I really don't worry much about some geek in the Silicon Valley being interested in where I am. One thing is sure; God knows where I am at this and every moment. This is true for everyone! He knows me; He's familiar with all my ways. He knows when I sit and when I rise. We may all exclaim along with David, "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me!" Psalm 139 speaks of God's intimate knowledge and His care for each of us as individuals. Although David writes the Psalm very personally, applying these truths to himself, they are equally pertinent to everyone of God's creation. We can read it as though we ourselves wrote it. Today we want to encourage each reader with these truths. He knows where we are and is intimately acquainted with the very issues that bring on anxiety, pain, temptation, as well as those things that bring peace, assurance, and joy. In the midst of it all He encircles us with His loving care as He makes this firm commitment to every one of His children: "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So, like the Psalmist, we properly respond to Him: "Search me O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psalm 139:23,24). May we all experience the peace that "God knows". Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily prayer: Father, I'm grateful for Your promise to guide and keep me secure no matter where I dwell, for Your hand will lead me, and Your right hand will hold me. What blessed assurance it brings to know that in Your omnipresence I can never move beyond Your compassionate care, Your loving favor, or Your watchful eye. Not only do You grant me every breath on earth, but You will also help me conquer death. Because of these glorious provisions, I have blessed assurance now and blessed hope for my eternal future! Amen. Yesterday
we made a short visit to the
Strasburg Railroad
We
had especially visited to see the
massive visiting Norfolk
and Western 611 steam engine, one
of the last and most powerful
steam engines ever made which is
temporarily on loan to the
Strasburg Railroad. It was not
being used yesterday for pulling
the train but I still got to see
it.

The much older Great Western 90 steam
engine was running and I caught this
photo bringing an excursion back
from Paradise (PA that is)
Click to enlarge For the next trip they
connected to the passenger cars with
the engine backwards (or so it seems
to me although for a train engine it
apparently doesn't matter).

Finally
today:
There
seems to be an abundance of pumpkins in
our area and they are readily available
at many roadside stands. But we still
see many pumpkins lying in fields and
yesterday passed this team taking them
out of a field near Paradise, PA. If you
look carefully you'll see a conveyer in
the middle of the wagon and extended
from the pasture to the wagon as the
Amishmen were loading pumpkins on it.

We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of approximately half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive compensation. Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each would provide half of our ministry expenses and income.
