A daily, Bible-based perspective of hope,
encouragement and exhortation.

A thick
fog engulfed the distant landscape yesterday morning
as we traveled through Lancaster County, turning
houses, barns and silos into silhouettes.

summary: Today,
as we live in a
world with
increasingly
shifting sands,
let these
characteristics be
true of the words
we speak and the
lives we live as
well!

"It
gave me great joy
to have some
brothers come and
tell about your
faithfulness to
the truth and how
you continue to
walk in the truth.
I have no greater
joy than to hear
that my children
are walking in the
truth" (3 John
1:3,4).
Increasingly,
some of the craziest
notions come out of
academia, from those
entrusted to teach
others, especially
at the college
level. They are
often esteemed as
the go to people for
knowledge although
in far too many
cases it seems this
verse applies, "professing
to be wise, they
became fools"
(Romans 1:22).
In my view
so many of these
professional
educators have
little knowledge of
the real world and
grossly lack common
sense. It seems
almost everything is
filtered through
politics and
political
correctness. They
are like the
academics of Athens.
In an interesting
parenthetical verse
we read, "Now all
the Athenians and
the strangers
visiting there used
to spend their time
in nothing other
than telling or
hearing something
new" (Acts
17:21).
Yesterday
in the media
reporting on the
hurricane I heard an
interview with an
"academic" (they
like that word)
emphatically stating
that recent
hurricanes are
man-made. Rarely are
these views
confronted by the
host, especially if
they score political
points. Great
discernment is
needed in so many
areas of life and,
most importantly,
having a solid
foundation in the
truth. Deceptions
abound; they always
have and always
will.
For this
reason Jesus warned
His disciples and
through the Bible
His caution comes to
all of us, "Watch
out that no one
deceives you"
(Matthew 24:4).
In our
daily text John is
describing what
brings him great joy
concerning Gaius,
the recipient of his
letter.
Additionally, John
heard it from those
who knew Gaius
personally and
observed these godly
traits in his life,
which speaks
volumes.
Let us
note two
characteristics:
1)
Faithfulness to the
truth
2)
Continuing to walk
in the truth
Today, as
we live in a world
with increasingly
shifting sands, let
these
characteristics be
true of the words we
speak and the lives
we live as well!
Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber ![]() Each
week we pass many
interesting barns
in southern
Lancaster County
including this one
in Southern
Lancaster County.
This
particular crop is
air-cured by
hanging the leaves
in well-ventilated
barns, as it dries
over a period
between four to
eight weeks. Some
will know what
this product is,
though many
farmers choose not
to grow it since
its finished
product is harmful
to humans.
This morning
traffic along
Colebrook Road was
delayed a few minutes
as this corn chopper
prepared for the
harvest.
But not for
long!
