Rock stack in First Fork of Sinnemahoning Creek
A stack of rocks in the First Fork of Sinnemahoning Creek, Potter County, PA

"The Creator of Heaven and Earth"

Message summary: Today "I am not ashamed that I believe in creation, God made the heavens and the earth in six days".

Listen to our message on your audio player.

"For this is what the LORD says - He who created the heavens, He is God; He who fashioned and made the earth, He founded it; He did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited - He says: “I am the LORD, and there is no other'" (Isaiah 45:18).

Yesterday we shared about the trip I (Stephen) made to northern PA early this week with the Lapp family. On Tuesday afternoon we from the cabin all went down the mountain to Sinnemahoning State Park where we rode bikes and the children played in the Sinnemahoning Creek in an area of the park known as 40 Maples. Although I joined them for the bike ride on an old non-electric bike far too small for my large frame I didn't care to play in the Creek.

Then we had a picnic meal including hamburgers cooked over the grill using sticks the children had collected to build the fire (resourceful since they didn't have charcoal).

In the creek I noticed the pile of rocks seen in our lead photo today and began to muse. One lesson from these rocks could be the time Joshua had twelve men from each tribe collect a stone from the Jordan River and stack them up as a memorial. We shared a message about that called "Spiritual Amnesia" (link below*).

But I looked at the stack of rocks and considered how they got there.

Was it:

A) A result of millions of years of random chance.

B) A recent flood that just so happened to form this stack of rocks.

C) A human being (likely a child) who purposefully stacked them.

D) Something else

Muse on that for a few hours if you care to but I think most of us would opt for C, that it was intelligently designed and built by a human. I suppose even the most ardent believer in naturalism and evolution would choose C. Yet that same person will reject the Biblical record of God's creation!

The Apostle's Creed begins, "I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth". This ancient creed merely affirms what Scripture teaches. The first verse in the Bible states, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth" (Genesis 1:1).

The truth of God being the Creator is visible all through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by Your will they were created and have their being” (Revelation 4:11).

On the way home Wednesday the family sang and we listened to a song I had never heard before called "I Am Not Ashamed" by Buddy Davis. It includes these words, "I am not ashamed that I believe in creation, God made the heavens and the earth in six days".

I am not ashamed that I believe in creation either. What about you?

Be encouraged today, Hebrews 3:13.

Praying manDaily prayer: Father God, Creator of heaven and earth, You declared that all You made was good, very good. Your glory and Your goodness along with the beauty and harmony of Your works have made life not only habitable but very good for all Your creation scrolling through all the generations right down to those of us living in the year of our Lord 2026. You blessed the seventh day of Your creation and made it holy, because on this day You rested from the previous days of creating the world as we know it. What an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-present God we serve that loves us to the uttermost. Forever we are thankful to You for giving us life here and now and for all eternity. Amen.

Loading transit van for trip
Loading up for the trip Monday afternoon on the Old Windmill Farm it might appear we would be using the buggy as a trailer. But we managed to pack in the entire family of nine, along with their oldest son Moses' fiance and all the items needed for the trip including a dog crate since we dropped off their poodle, Sonia, with Brooksyne and Ester. Our pets were a little leery about adding one more pet to our household, especially our cat who remained hidden during Sonia's stay except for her meals. Brooksyne gave Sonia a bath right away as she had gotten into some muddy water as you can see.

transit van
We made the trip in a very comfortable transit van. Here we are heading out for the long drive after meeting up with Brooksyne at the Sheetz in Mount Joy where she took Sonia and we took the treats she sent with us.

Bikes at creek
It was about a 2 mile bike ride on a park road from the park office to the 40 Maples area where the children played in the creek and we enjoyed our picnic lunch.

Bikes at creek
The creek was too enticing to stay out of on a warm day.

Wykoff Run waterfall
On the way home Wednesday afternoon we passed through the Quehanna Wild Area, one of the most wilderness areas in all of Pennsylvania. This is the Wykoff Run Falls where we stopped for photos. Exploring Wykoff Run Falls in the Quehanna Wild Area
