"My Real ID" Message summary: Today we want to consider our real ID, not in the sense of an identity card but rather our identity in Christ. That's our ultimate real ID! Listen
to our message
on your audio
player. "Therefore,
if anyone is
in Christ, he
is a new
creation. The
old has passed
away; behold,
the new has
come" (2
Corinthians
5:17). “But
you are a
chosen people,
a royal
priesthood, a
holy nation,
God’s special
possession,
that you may
declare the
praises of Him
who called you
out of
darkness into
His wonderful
light” (1
Peter 1:9). Yesterday
we went to the
PennDOT Driver
License Center
(DMV) to get
our renewed 4
year driver's
licenses and
our real ID
which will be
required next
year for air
travel. We
sort of dread
going
to the DMV
based on reputation
and previous
experiences
but apart from
the wait it
wasn't all
that bad. But
once every
four years is
enough! The
Real ID
requirement
has been in
the works for
many years
(since 2005)
but kept
getting
delayed here
in
Pennsylvania,
most recently
by covid. I
(Stephen) was
able to get
mine but
Brooksyne's
Oklahoma birth
certificate
wasn't
accepted since
obviously we
weren't
married at the
time she was
born and the
certificate
had her maiden
name on it. A
copy of our
marriage
license was
not sufficient
since it was
only a copy,
not the
original with
the actual
seal (who
would know
such things)! Identity is defined as "the collective aspect of the set of characteristics by which a person is definitively recognizable or known". Another definition states "the fact of being who or what a person or thing is". Today
we want to
consider our
real ID, not
in the sense
of an identity
card but
rather our
identity in
Christ. That's
our ultimate
real ID! Our
daily texts
describe
aspects of
this identity.
When we place
our faith in
Christ we are
a "new
creation"
and "we
are a chosen
people, a
royal
priesthood, a
holy nation,
God’s special
possession".
We are called
"out of
darkness into
His wonderful
light". These
titles were
once
associated
with ancient
Israel but now
describe the
church's
identity and
that of
individual
Christians. In
light of our
identity in
Christ we are
to declare the
praises of Him
who called us
out of
darkness into
His wonderful
light. That's
our real ID.
Be encouraged today, Hebrews 3:13 Stephen & Brooksyne Weber
Daily
prayer:
Father, since
we have new
life in Christ
we can
identify with
others in the
priesthood of
believers.
We are Your special
possession,
who proclaim
Your praises
because You
called us out
of darkness
into Your
wonderful
light. Help us
not to want
the spotlight
in this
temporal world
below which is
sin-filled and
full of
troubles. Help
us instead to
be a beacon of
light showing
others their
way out of
darkness so
they can step
into Your
marvelous
light for all
eternity. In
Jesus' name we
pray. Amen.

Casting Crowns Update on Ester: We have good news about Ester's INR. After a dose of Vitamin K last evening along with the many prayers for good results, Ester's test this morning was 3.2. Still not in range (2.0-3.0) but comfortably close. Her anticoagulant pharmacist was quite pleased. She has not been taking warfarin (blood thinner) for over a week now and we will hold back until she is within healthy range and pharmacist gives us the green light. We
also received
a call from
Hershey
Medical Center
who is setting
Ester up with
a hematology
consult and
they're
discussing a
different
anticoagulant
or other
possibilities
in the near
future. So
we'll clue you
in when we
have answers
in that
regard. Thanks
