antique autos!

"Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy, when I cry to you for help, when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary" (Psalm 28:2). "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble" (Psalm 46:1). "So we can confidently say, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?'” (Hebrews 13:6). "Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7). Yesterday
I mentioned
that I had
taught our ABF
class (Sunday
School) this
last Sunday.
When I
completed the
lesson I asked
the class to
join me as I
closed our
time in
prayer.
Although I had
my phone
silenced and
sitting on a
table during
the entire
lesson for
some reason
something in
my prayer
triggered Siri
and the
pleasant
female voice
blurted out
for all to
hear, "Sorry,
I can't help
you with that".
As
the class
tried to
restrain their
chuckles
during a
serious prayer
I distanced
myself from
the phone to
complete the
prayer and to
hopefully
silence the
rather
intrusive
Siri. (For any
unaware Siri
is Apple's
virtual
assistant)
Thankfully,
Siri was not a
messenger
speaking for
God! God's
word to us is
always, "I
can help you
with that".
Now for sure
His help may
not always be
to our
immediate
liking but
without fail
He is a very
present help
in times of
trouble.
Many
years ago I
heard a sermon
based on Psalm
46 when we
lived in New
England. The
speaker used a
title "God's
in trouble" that
at first
offended me. I
initially took
it to mean in
the sense when
we say we are
in trouble.
I thought "God's
never in
trouble!"
But as he
explained I
saw his point.
Yes, based on
Psalm 46:1
"God's in
trouble", that
is He is with
us during our
times of
trouble.
When we have troubles we can be sure God is with us as our refuge and strength in the time of trouble. He's not just a help to us which is such a blessing, but He is a present help, being with us at all times and in every setting. Focus on the word "very", God is a very present help in trouble! Are
you in trouble
today? Maybe
it's a job
situation,
perhaps a
medical
crisis,
struggle in
your marriage,
seeking to
overcome a
'besetting'
sin and many
other sources
of trouble. We
also look at
the world
situations and
can, if we
lose our focus
on Christ,
despair. God
is with you in
your trouble.
He ever cares.
Rest today in
that
assurance.
Be
encouraged
today,

Daily prayer:
Father,
when times are
tough, if we
fully rely on
You, we find
that You are
enough to get
us through
that which
would
otherwise
overwhelm
us. You
are our refuge
and strength,
a very present
help in
trouble.
Therefore we
will not fear
though the
earth give way
and the
mountains be
cast into the
sea. You are
Creator of the
universe,
Creator of our
human
existence and
You are in
control of all
that concerns
us. We trust
You for that
which
distresses us
including
those whom You
have placed in
our care. We
must go
through many
hardships to
enter Your
kingdom, but
You go before
us, prepare
the way and
sustain us
during the
journey. Help
us to plod on
and pray every
step of the
way. In Jesus'
name we pray.
Amen.

Sunrise
view from our
bedroom window
right beside
our bed. It
sure gets you
up much
quicker than
waking up in a
dark room
which we were
accustomed to
for the past
22 years since
our window was
on the other
side of the
room from our
bed. We sure
do enjoy
seeing the
birds eating
and the
squirrels
scurrying to
clean up the
leftovers. We
never see them
at night but
shortly after
sunrise they
come.
Finally
today: We
received an
interesting
note from a
reader who is
a Messianic
Jew in regard
to last week's
final two
messages on
the Jewish
people.
I
just wanted to
thank you for
your
sensitivity to
what is
happening in
the world
today and to
my people. So
many
Christians are
still in the
deception of
replacement
theology, as
I'm sure you
know.
Here
in the South
American
country where
I live (she
identified the
country but
requested
anonymity) we
also have seen
some
anti-Semitic
incidents.
Last week
someone posted
some horrible
posters of a
kid throwing
rocks saying
"Viva, viva
Palestina".
Yeah,
disgusting on
more than one
level. And I
live in a
small pueblo.
Our president
is an
anti-Semitic
Communist
threatening to
break
relations with
Israel.
I am a USC alumna, so am able to contrast the Vietnam war protests, which were very peaceful on our campus back then, to the present insanity, which was fully planned at the start of this century during the aftermath of the Oslo accords. To
