"Eternal
Guarantee"
Message
summary:
The best
guarantee
assures
forgiveness of
sins, eternal
life and a
place in
heaven for all
recipients of
the “better
covenant”.
Amazingly so
few seem
interested in
this
guarantee.

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade -- kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time" (1 Peter 1:3-5). “Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant” (Hebrews 7:22). If you happen to be driving up Route 1 in Maine above Portland, you might want to stop in the main store for the L.L. Bean Company. Don’t worry about when you get there since the store is open 24 hours a day year round. It’s a huge store with many displays of stuffed and mounted skins of animals, live fish and lots and lots of stuff. Once when we lived in New England we were up that way and stopped on Christmas evening about 10:00 and plenty of people were walking through even at that time. What many people like about the L.L. Bean store is the quality of their merchandise and their guarantee which is expressed on an ad slogan. It unambiguously states “Guaranteed – You have our word”. For many years this was a lifetime guarantee but in recent years they changed their warranty to one year due to abuse. This statement was in an L.L. Bean catalog several years ago: “We guarantee everything except the weather.” Some
time back I
saw a tool set
with this
remarkable
claim on the
packaging,
"Guaranteed
Forever". It
was kind of
humorous since
it appeared to
be the rather
cheap,
massively
produced
foreign stuff
that often
breaks the
first time you
use it hard.
But
it did get me
to thinking.
What is
guaranteed
forever? In
our first text
Peter speaks
of an
inheritance
that can never
perish, spoil
or fade. Let
us consider
two phrases in
this Scripture
portion:
1)
"Kept in
heaven for
you".
Now there's a
guarantee you
can count on!
As you face
each day and
the remainder
of your life
keep this in
mind. You have
a "living
hope"
guarantee
valid forever!
It's secured
by the
finished work
of Jesus
Christ. His
Credit has
been applied
to your
account and
there is no
limit or
expiration
date. J.R.
Miller writes,
"The children
of God are
heirs to a
glorious
inheritance.
It is not an
earthly
inheritance,
but a
heavenly. It
is not given
to them in
full
possession in
this world,
but is
reserved for
them in
heaven. They
could not
receive it
here - they
have a
pilgrimage to
make to get to
it."
2) "Shielded by God's power." By faith we are shielded by God's power. The keeping power of our Lord is as strong as His strength and as eternal as His person. No Christian should ever doubt this providential care of the Lord. We are constantly being kept shielded by the omnipotent power of God which guarantees every believer's final victory. This
guarantee
assures
forgiveness of
sins, eternal
life and a
place in
heaven for all
recipients of
the “better
covenant”.
Amazingly so
few seem
interested in
this
guarantee.
Christ is the guarantee of a “better covenant” in which we are receiving a “kingdom that cannot be shaken” (Hebrews 12:28) and the “eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 1:12). The guarantor is Jesus Christ. Long after everything on this earth is defunct our Lord Jesus will be reigning supreme. The old gospel song states, “All may change but Jesus never, glory to His Name!” “Jesus
is able to
save
completely
those who come
to God through
Him, because
He always
lives to
intercede for
them” (Hebrews
7:25).
Have you come
to God through
Jesus? If not,
do so today!
Be
encouraged
today,
(Hebrews
3:13)

Daily prayer:
Father,
the vast
majority build
their hopes
and dreams on
that which
will pass away
but we build
our lives on
the better
covenant which
will be
completely
fulfilled as
we cross over
to the
Promised Land,
the place
where we will
dwell for all
eternity. How
wonderful that
You save to
the uttermost.
No one will be
denied a place
in heaven who
comes to You
in humility,
repentance,
and faith. It
is in Jesus’
name that we
are saved and
made right
with You. For
that we are
eternally
thankful!
Thank you for
that
guarantee.
Amen.
