Grandview Road farm
This snow blanketed farm is on Grandview Road north of Mount Joy. Many preserved farms dot our landscape and we are sure grateful for that, including this one.

"Ask Jesus"

Message summary: Our God is faithful to listen to the cries of His people and meet every need we present to Him.

Note: Due to technical difficulties we are still unable to create a podcast.

"Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you" (
Jeremiah 29:12).

Josh at Audreys
We enjoy visiting with a variety of people in our chaplaincy ministry including Josh. He has worked at the Audrey's Warehouse since we started serving as their company chaplains nearly 5 years ago. He is a diligent worker and an asset to the company.

When Josh was younger he was a special Olympian, having won several gold medals in swimming.

Josh thoughtfully likes to give me ideas for Bible teachings since I have an opportunity to present a brief devotional for those who choose to attend morning prayers. He inadvertently did so yesterday!

Fresh Baked Pies

He also has a witty sense of humor. Audrey's is a wholesale distributor of home decor items such as you might see at a Crackerbarrel store. Yesterday as I was talking to Josh I saw a sign, "Fresh Baked Pies, Served Daily" which reminds me of the kind of pies you would eat at a diner. It prompted a hankering for a piece of pie!

I asked, "Where can I find one of those fresh baked pies here?" Without hesitation Josh answered, "You'll just have to ask Jesus".

Now that's both humorous and good advice. I thought of it this morning as I continue to deal with computer problems related to my microphone. I have scoured the web for a solution and then it occurred to me that I hadn't prayed about it after the problem was not quickly resolved. Admittedly I don't always ask Jesus for help when I should, although it doesn't always mean we'll get the answer right away as I am still having microphone problems!

Two weeks ago we shared a message titled "God Can Take It" based upon a question John the Baptist had for Jesus. God can take our questions, big and small, simple or complex, as  in the case of John who was expressing some doubt.

Today's verse states, "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you" (Jeremiah 29:12).

We call on the Lord for a variety of reasons, and we are reassured that He is not too busy or distracted to hear us since He tells us, "I will listen to you". We need to seek the Lord while He may be found; to knock on the door of heaven so that it will be opened unto us.

Bible teacher John Gill wrote,

"When God intends and is about to bestow a mercy, He gives His people a spirit of prayer to ask for it; and even the promise of it is a considerable argument to encourage and engage more to pray for it. God is a God hearing prayer; He listens to the requests of His people, and answers them in His own time and way; which is no small encouragement to pray unto Him."

Our God is faithful to listen to the cries of His people and meet every need we present to Him.

Be encouraged today, (Hebrews 3:13)

Praying manDaily prayer: Father, it is no small thing that we trust You for all that concerns us and it is no small thing that You choose to listen to us. This is the confidence which we have before You, that, if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us. For your eyes, O Lord, are over the righteous, and Your ears are open to our prayers. Your arm is not too weak to save us, nor is Your ear too deaf to hear us when we call on You. Father, all things are possible to those who believe, and we do believe and trust in You. Amen.

I John 5:14-15; I Peter 3:12; Isaiah 59:1

* Our new computer is not working with my Blue Snowball microphone I have used for many years and I need to determine if it's a Windows problem or if I need a new microphone. I hate to buy a new microphone only to still have the problem. My situation is I was trained for ministry, not computer troubleshooting!
