These trees along one of the many rail trails in our area are surely
at peak beauty. Their color resembles the forsythias that
are one of the early spring beauties.
"Divine Kardiamobile"
Message
summary: Due to the
omnipresence of God we also have a spiritual kardiamobile.
Anytime day or night, wherever we are we can have our
heart tested.

“Test
me, O LORD, and try me, examine my heart and my mind”
(Psalm 26:2). "You, Lord, who know the hearts of all"
(Acts 1:24).
Kardiamobile™ is the first and only FDA‑cleared six‑lead personal EKG (electrocardiogram). It claims it can detect Atrial Fibrillation or abnormal heart rhythm anytime, anywhere. Since Atrial Fibrillation (A-fib) is an affliction that our daughter Ester has as a result of a congenital heart defect repair (BT Shunt) she might especially benefit from a device like this although thus far it has not been recommended by her cardiologist. Longtime
readers and friends are aware that Ester was born in
Guatemala with extensive heart problems and came to the
states at three months of age. She has endured six major
open-heart surgeries along with many catheterizations,
installation of three different pacemakers and several
other procedures related to her heart malady.
She’s
presently doing fine but has her heart examined regularly
due to ongoing concerns that are checked through
electrocardiogram, echocardiogram and other diagnostic
tests. This coming spring she is scheduled to have her
pacemaker replaced. Apart from a miraculous healing, for
the remainder of her life she will need to be carefully
monitored. I expect that there are a number of our readers
who can identify with Ester’s health matters.
In our first
daily text the Psalmist David speaks about a heart
examination we all need to regularly submit to. He cries
out to the Divine Cardiologist, “Examine my heart".
The Bible has so much to say about the heart. It’s unlikely that in David’s appeal he was thinking of the pumping organ as we know it. The Hebrew word “leb” conveyed the innermost or center part. The word used in the Greek New Testament for heart, "kardia", also has the sense of innermost part. Of course that’s where the “cardio” in cardiologist comes from. Altogether the word “heart” is used 830 times in the Bible! As I ponder these words of Scripture I am struck by the spiritual health tip in David’s words. He initiates the appeal: test, try, and examine me. Likewise we do well to approach God in this way. We willingly subject ourselves to thorough examination of our innermost part by the divine Cardiologist. Due to the omnipresence of God we also have a spiritual kardiamobile. Anytime day or night, wherever we are we can have our heart tested. In Psalm
139:23,24 David cries out in a line familiar to many
believers, "Search me, O God, and know my heart: try
me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked
way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting".
The second
text tells us that God knows the hearts of all. No wonder
David said, "Such knowledge is too wonderful for me"
(Psalm 139:6).
When it
comes to the work of the Divine Cardiologist we suggest
not merely an annual exam but regular access such as those
with physical problems can now have with Kardiamobile™. Daily is surely not too
frequent to consult with the divine Cardiologist! Actually
you can just leave the divine Kardiamobile running
constantly! (The battery will never run out).
Search me,
O God, and know my heart today,
Try me, O Savior, know my thoughts, I pray; See if there be some wicked way in me; Cleanse me from every sin, and set me free. Be encouraged today, (Hebrews 3:13)

Daily
prayer: Father,
You are the Divine cardiologist who knows the very
inmost part of my spiritual heart. People see only
the outward person and I am capable of presenting
myself differently than the person I really am
inside, but I cannot hide from You that which comes
from my inward parts. You liken the heart to that
which is the most central part of our emotions and
character. I invite You to not only search my heart,
but I ask You to remove the offensive contaminants
such as jealousy, bitterness, disobedience, rage,
lust or any other impurity that destroys my soul,
for no one but You can heal all my soul’s diseases.
I praise You, Lord, for cleansing me from sin.
Fulfill Your word and make me pure within. Fill me
with fire, where once I burned with shame; grant my
desire to magnify Your name.* Amen.

As
the weather gets colder and the leaves
continue to fall the distinct beauty of Autumn
will soon fade! Today, depending on how warm
it gets we plan to either walk a portion of
the Appalachian Trail or mosey through a
mountain valley on Swopes Valley Road across
the Blue Mountain ridge.

We want to thank all who financially
support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our
ministry labor is comprised of approximately
half our time to Daily Encouragement and the
other half to our chaplaincy ministry to
companies for which we receive compensation.
Each of these ministries essentially is the
same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for
each of us. Our goal for many years is that
each would provide half of our ministry
expenses and income.
