A
daily, Bible-based perspective of hope, encouragement and
exhortation.

We sure have a lot of interesting traffic in
front of our home including this tractor hauling a
trailer load of freshly picked tomatoes passing by
yesterday.
"The
Blessing Of Unlimited"
Message summary: Compared to God our compassion, understanding and power is extremely limited! Listen to this message on your audio player. "Have mercy, God, according to Your gracious love, according to Your unlimited compassion, erase my transgressions" (Psalm 51:1). "Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is unlimited" (Psalm 147:5). "Then, with the eyes of your hearts enlightened, you will know the confidence that is produced by God having called you, the rich glory that is His inheritance among the saints, and the unlimited greatness of His power for us who believe, according to the working of His mighty strength, which He brought about in the Messiah when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realm" (Ephesians 1:18-20). QR codes have become ubiquitous. Our
church places one on the screen before each service on
Sunday; scan the code and it opens to information for
visitors. We've seen them in some pretty unusual places such
as a billboard along a busy highway. Sure seems like this
could lead to distracted driving. Hopefully drivers pull
over to scan the code!
A QR code is an abbreviation for Quick Response
Code, a two-dimensional code that can encrypt several
thousand characters. It can store information about the
product the code is attached to or link to a destination
URL.
The QR code system was invented in 1994 by Masahiro Hara from the Japanese company Denso Wave. The initial purpose was to track vehicles during manufacturing designed to allow high-speed component scanning. (Wikipedia) I made my
first QR code to link to our Daily Encouragement site about
ten years ago and it still works. Of course I have no idea
how QR codes work but I am smart in other ways! (At least I
hope I am!))
But what
really amazes me is how the little block can have enough
variation to identify or link to so many different things
and websites. I read that the complexity of a QR code means
there are practically unlimited numbers of possible
permutations that everyone on earth can assign a unique QR
code to every photo, link, and product ever created, and
we’d never run out.
Well, you can
check every Bible version and you won't find a "QR code" in the Bible but
the unlimited capabilities of the QR code gave me pause in
consideration of God's unlimited capabilities, so today let
us consider just three unlimited capabilities of God.
1)
God's Unlimited Compassion: "Have mercy, God,
according to Your gracious love, according to Your unlimited
compassion, erase my transgressions" (Psalm 51:1).
2)
God's Unlimited Understanding: "Great is our Lord,
and abundant in power; His understanding is unlimited"
(Psalm 147:5).
3)
God's Unlimited Power: "Then, with the eyes of
your hearts enlightened, you will know the confidence that
is produced by God having called you, the rich glory that
is His inheritance among the saints, and the unlimited
greatness of His power for us who believe, according to
the working of His mighty strength, which He brought about
in the Messiah when He raised Him from the dead and seated
Him at His right hand in the heavenly realm" (Ephesians
1:18-20).
Comparatively
even the most devoted believer's compassion, understanding
and power is extremely limited.
Let us hear
this Word from the Lord:
"This is
what the Lord says:
'Let not
the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of
their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but
let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have
the understanding to know me, that I am the Lord, who
exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,' declares the Lord" (Jeremiah
9:23,24).
Be encouraged today, (Hebrews 3:13)

Daily
prayer: Father help us
to remember the only boasting that really matters is
that we truly know You and understand that You are
the Lord who is just, righteous full of
understanding and abundant in mercy! Wisdom,
power, strength, and riches are providential
blessings that we do not deserve, but gifts that You
distribute with delight. May we ever be mindful and
grateful for Your unlimited virtues and seek to
imitate them in our day to day interaction with
others in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.

Word is a local ministry based here in
Lancaster County which stresses Scripture
memorization. The director, Aaron House, was
recently featured on Haven Today, a national
radio ministry. We have heard many presentations
by this group over the years and they do an
outstanding job of reciting and portraying the
Scriptures, word perfect, as translated by the
ESV!
Today's
consideration of QR codes is in part prompted by
the cards we ordered that included a QR code
linking to Daily Encouragement Net. In the
course of our chaplaincy we have distributed
thousands of these cards over the years. We have
normally placed a calendar on the back but on
this one we placed "The Four Spiritual Laws".
Let
me encourage our readers to consider using these
cards as a personal form of witness, especially
if you have a ministry blog or website. It's
relatively inexpensive to have the cards made
and you can use the back of the card as a tract.
We have used this source for ordering our
business cards for many years: Gotprint.com (This
is not an affiliate link!)
Finally
today:
To receive the
"Daily Encouragement" each Monday-Friday
through email see this
page to subscribe to our email list. You can also
subscribe to the Wordpress rss feed or
through a Wordpress email subscription.

We want to thank all who financially
support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our
ministry labor is comprised of approximately
half our time to Daily Encouragement and the
other half to our chaplaincy ministry to
companies for which we receive compensation.
Each of these ministries essentially is the
same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for
each of us. Our goal for many years is that
each would provide half of our ministry
expenses and income.
