Where
do you suppose we ate breakfast yesterday? (see below)
"I
Needed Rescued!"
Message summary: If you
come upon a person drowning you don't toss them a
pamphlet titled "How To Swim". When someone is
drowning they need rescued!
Listen to this message on your audio player. "Grace
to you and peace from God our Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins
so that He might rescue us from this present
evil age, according to the will of our God and
Father, to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen"
(Galatians 1:3-5). "For He has rescued us from
the dominion of darkness and transferred us into
the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have
redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians
1:13,14).
This
billboard along Rt 30 caught my attention
yesterday, which it was designed to do, and thus
was successful. I took this photo but it may be
hard to read the message, "It's Good To be Wicked"
which advertised a beer brand. (For locals it's
near Costco.) I suppose you have to be more
worldy-wise than me to know what it means, but it
does seem to be life's outlook for many people in
a literal sense. That's why those of us who have
been rescued need to let our light shine to show
that what's really good is to be righteous through
the work of Jesus Christ.
Here's
an idea for a simple way of sharing our faith that
we all can use, our email sig line. Ron is a local
friend who uses this verse, "God is our refuge
and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear" (Psalm 46:1-2).
That's always such a comforting reminder but is
extra special and pertinent these days.
Yesterday
we received an email from Laifong, a longtime
friend from Massachusetts, with this simple
witness on her sig line, "Rescued and saved by
Jesus" along with the first daily verse.
We heard a pastor preach from this passage, "The Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins so that He might rescue us from this present evil age". He asserted that, "If you come upon a person drowning you don't toss them a pamphlet titled 'How To Swim'. When someone is drowning they need rescued!" We all need rescued. Thank God that He did not just send a "How To" pamphlet but rather He sent His only begotten Son, as a Savior who gave Himself for our sins and rescued us from our penalty of sin which is separation from God for all eternity. And He, through the Holy Spirit, commissioned patriarchs, prophets, and disciples to record biblical truth and instruction to show us the way of salvation that leads to righteous living. J. B. Lightfoot writes that "the rescue strikes the keynote of Galatians. The Gospel is a rescue, an emancipation from a state of bondage to sin." Have you taken hold of the redeeming hand of Jesus who desires to rescue you from drowning in your sins? If not, we appeal for you to do so today. I
needed rescue
My sin was heavy But chains break at the weight of Your glory I needed shelter I was an orphan But You call me a citizen of heaven When I was broken You were my healing Your love is the air that I'm breathing I have a future My eyes are open! Be encouraged! Stephen & Brooksyne Weber
Daily
prayer: Merciful
Father, our dwelling place is not found in the
kingdom of this world but in Your spiritual
kingdom where our life- saving rescue took place
as Jesus died on the cross on our behalf. You
delivered us from the dominion of darkness and
transferred us into the kingdom of Your beloved
Son in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of
our sins. There is no greater or more lasting
rescue that changes the direction of our lives
here on earth and also the direction of our
eternal destiny in the life hereafter. We will
thank and praise You for our life transforming
rescue for all of eternity. Amen.

Finally
today:
Yesterday
we had breakfast at Cracker Barrel (lead
photo) which is now reopened for indoor
dining again here in Lancaster County. We
sure enjoyed sitting close to the
crackling fire as we ate breakfast and had
some fellowship with our Christian
waitress, Luz. The earlier you arrive
chances are your waitress might have some
extra time to chat. Luz' father recently
died so we sought to encourage her and
have been praying for her and her 10
siblings and her mom.

We want to thank all who financially
support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our
ministry labor is comprised of approximately
half our time to Daily Encouragement and the
other half to our chaplaincy ministry to
companies for which we receive compensation.
Each of these ministries essentially is the
same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for
each of us. Our goal for many years is that
each would provide half of our ministry
expenses and income.
