"He
Holds All Things Together"
Message summary: He who holds all things together will surely uphold and sustain you. He is ever dependable. "And this is the plan: At the right time He will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth" (Ephesians 1:10). "The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together" (Colossians 1:15-17). "The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of His being, sustaining all things by His powerful word" (Hebrews 1:3). In
September we went down to Washington, DC for the
Prayer March and saw a woman wearing a sign on her
back: "Everything is NOT falling apart, Everything
is FALLING INTO PLACE."
Isn't
that a great reminder, especially
for these times?
The
daily Scriptures are several powerful portions
extolling the supremacy of Christ. Our first verse,
Ephesians 1:10 seen on the sign reminds us that God
has a plan that cannot be thwarted. "And
this is the plan: At the right time He will bring
everything together under the authority of
Christ—everything in heaven and on earth"
(Ephesians 1:10).
1) God has a plan
2) Everything in heaven and on earth will
be brought together. Note that everything is used
twice for emphasis
3) Under the authority of Christ
Colossians
1:16,17 states "For by Him all things were
created: things in heaven and on earth, visible
and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers
or authorities; all things were created by Him and
for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all
things hold together." Note the four times in
these two verses we read the words "all things".
But today let us focus on just the phrase, "in Him all things hold together". The God who holds all things together in the universe is also sustaining each one of us. He speaks through the prophet Isaiah to the ancient people of God and thus through the Scriptures to all of us: "Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all you who remain of the house of Israel, you whom I have upheld since you were conceived, and have carried since your birth" (Isaiah 46:3).* Rest in the wonderful assurance that we don't have to be self-sustaining and our sustaining does not depend on the vacillating events around us. Instead we raise our eyes heavenward and declare, "You are sustaining all things by Your powerful Word and You will accomplish what concerns me for You are my Sustainer; Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting" (Hebrews 1:3, Psalm 138:8). So here's the word of encouragement today, fellow believer. He who holds all things together will surely uphold and sustain you. He is ever dependable. Troubles and fears that weigh you down today are under His absolute authority and, as they run their course, Jesus calls us to trust Him – yes, even in the midst of them. Let's take Him at His Word since He is wholly dependable! Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber
Daily
prayer: Father, You are before all things and
You hold all things together. Without Your sovereign
power at work, in the universe and in our lives, we
would be without hope and without existence. I'm so
thankful that You delight in Your creation, You even
rejoice over us with singing. You sustain all things
by Your powerful Word and You accomplish that which
concerns me, for You are my great sustainer. Thank
You faithful, holy and righteous One. Amen.
* "you whom I have upheld since you were conceived" What a powerful truth concerning the value of life beginning at conception expressed long before we had the biological knowledge as humans to understand life begins at conception. One can get a jail term for destroying unborn eagles (their eggs) but many defend and even celebrate the slaughter of unborn children. This is what happens when mankind forsakes God. "All

Your Burdens Down" Video Chuck Girard
Chuck
Girard was a part of one of the earliest
"contemporary" Christian groups called "Love Song"
during the Jesus people movement in the early
70's. I was the president of my senior class
at Truman High School in 1973 in Independence,
MO. At that time I was getting serious about
my faith and hanging around with other
Christian students and was a part of the
Campus Crusade for Christ group in our school.
Some of the other students thought it would be
neat to have "Love Song" come to our school
and thinking I might have some influence
talked me into calling the number on the back
of a "Love Song" album to see if they would
come to our school from a pay phone in the
lobby. I didn't have any money so I called
collect. The person on the other end of the
call told the operator, "I don't know any
Stephen Weber" and hung up! I recall being a
little hurt but I got over it and went on to
mature in my faith, even if we didn't get to
have a "Love song" concert, though Brooksyne
(after we became a couple) tells me how they
hosted Andrae Crouch and the Disciples
(another very popular gospel group) in her
high school and filled the football stadium. I
expect someone in her school knew how to go
about arranging and promoting such an event.

today:
This
morning we visited a company in Willow Street,
PA and one of the employees had posted this
faith reminder. I wrote the Amen!

We want to thank all who
financially support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our ministry
labor is comprised of approximately half our
time to Daily Encouragement and the other half
to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for
which we receive compensation. Each of these
ministries essentially is the same as a
part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of
us. Our goal for many years is that each would
provide half of our ministry expenses and
income.
