"In
Manifold Witness"
Message summary: Listen to the pouring forth of speech as the heavens give dramatic, manifold witness of God’s existence; His power, love and care. Let us observe the displaying of knowledge, which day after day and night after night, faithfully declares the glory of God. Let us also rejoice in and proclaim the mighty work of His hands! Listen

"The
heavens declare the glory of God; the skies
proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they
pour forth speech; night after night they display
knowledge" (Psalm 19:1,2).
Summer
and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above, Join with all nature in manifold witness To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love. Today
is the autumnal equinox when autumn officially
begins. At this point the earth will be
precisely in line with the sun at the equator
bringing virtually the same amount of daylight and
darkness on this particular day. The movement of
objects in space is so predictable and precise that
astronomers can pinpoint the exact time of this and
other astronomical events years ahead. I consider
the line in the great hymn classic, "Great Is Thy
Faithfulness" that speaks of God's "manifold
witness" in nature.
How marvelous is God’s creation along with the perfect orderliness of His glorious works! Today let us consider the daily verse which proclaims the great God we serve and the work of His hands through the sky that speaks to us in so many different ways. Autumn is a time when the sun’s angle changes and the air is noticeably cooler. Along with the cool nights we soon observe the beautiful green leaves turning a fiery glow before falling to the ground. We both enjoy the fall season but Brooksyne somewhat laments the passing of summer. We enjoy the 2 month + period of fall decorations generally culminating with Thanksgiving when golden and auburn colors accent the landscapes seen especially in the brilliant colors of the burning bush, autumn ash, and red maples. In two weeks we plan to go to northern Pennsylvania in the Grand Canyon area and hopefully we'll see the hardwood forests at the peak of their majestic color. The late Ravi Zacharias shares a quote from John Polkinghorn, a physicist who placed his faith in God. He expressed the reasonableness of faith in God in a lecture titled, “The first three minutes of the universe”. In his lecture he makes this remarkable observation based on his understanding: “Do you know that the balance needed in the early seconds of the universe between its expansion and contraction rate had to be so specific, so on target, with a margin of error so small it would be the equivalent of taking aim at a target at the other end of the universe 20 billion light years away aiming at a 1 square inch target and hitting it straight on.” Now I don’t profess to know what this means and concur with Brooksyne who said, “Now how in the world do they know that?” But it sure seems to me to be a pretty clear reason for having faith in God! Some 3,000 years ago David looked up into the sky and made the proclamation found in the daily text. Although I am more familiar with the first verse I find great blessing from the second as well: "Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge". Wow, isn’t that true! Some are observant and listening, but most pay no attention at all. Let us look up to the skies that expand far beyond the human eye or the lens of the most sophisticated, powerful telescope. Listen to the pouring forth of speech as the heavens give dramatic, manifold witness of God’s existence; His power, love and care. Let us observe the displaying of knowledge, which day after day and night after night, faithfully declares the glory of God. Let us also rejoice in and proclaim the mighty work of His hands! Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily prayer: Father, we are surrounded by Your awesome works and endless display of divine handiwork. The entire universe is in perfect order which is a testimony to Your greatness and continued watchful eye over all of Your creation. The silent heavens speak as they declare Your majesty and glory. They also testify to Your righteousness and faithfulness as the Lord who created them and gave them a purpose for existence. May we, as Your human creation, also proclaim Your righteousness and faithfulness day after day. May our lives display the work of the Holy Spirit as we continue to grow in faith until the day of Christ’s return. Amen. Today's Suggested Music and Supplemental Resources "Great

Coming
up this Saturday for those who may be
interested: We are joining a group from
our area going down to Washington DC on
Saturday, September 26 for a prayer march
called, "The Return, National and Global Day
of Prayer and Repentance". See here for info. America is
in deep trouble so let’s call on God’s power and
a movement of the Holy Spirit to bring
Repentance and Revival to our land! You can do
this wherever you live.
What
a delightful time we had with Tina and Sharon
who visited us from Easton, PA. Sharon, sitting
on the right, celebrated her birthday two days
ago so Tina brought her to visit us as a
birthday present. She has been a long time
reader but this was our first time of extended
fellowship person to person. Would you join us
in praying for Sharon whose husband passed about
three weeks ago, as she transitions to being on
her own, after 53 years of marriage.
Ed
and Gladys Berkey celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary on Sunday!
He
was my District Superintendent when I moved to
New England in 1993 and he installed me as the
new pastor.
Render
honor to whom honor is due. (Romans 13:7).
He
wrote, "The only way we know to show our praise
is to dedicate whatever days He may give us in
glorifying Him who has saved us and kept us by
His grace!"
I
startled Joe Snavely the other day as he was
packing a Fed-Ex truck at Kleen-Rite! Joe has
been a friend for about ten years when we met
him during a time we served a small church in
Mastersonville, PA. Joe taught me what the S. in
Milton S. Hershey stands for (Snavely). Joe has
been a farmer, insurance salesman and now a
Fed-Ex driver. Years ago his farm had a
devastating barn fire which we wrote about here.

We want to thank all who
financially support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our ministry
labor is comprised of approximately half our
time to Daily Encouragement and the other half
to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for
which we receive compensation. Each of these
ministries essentially is the same as a
part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of
us. Our goal for many years is that each would
provide half of our ministry expenses and
income.
