(Click on photo to enlarge) "The
Ancient Of
Days"
"Yes, and from ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” (Isaiah 43:13). "As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze" (Daniel 7:9). We have both been blessed
by the music that God has gifted His church
with. Early on it was clear that God had not
gifted me (Stephen) musically but Brooksyne
plays the piano, sings and has led choir in
several churches over the years. (In the photo
she is directing a musical when the choir was
wearing biblical attire.) We enjoy new and old
music in a variety of different styles, the most
important aspect being the lyrics and sound
theology.
For several weeks we've been enjoying music by a worship team called CityAlight from a church in Australia. Several weeks ago we heard a song, "Ancient Of Days", which prompted today's study and provides a perspective so needed in these perilous times. We encourage you to listen (video with lyrics) and then come back to read our message! Though the nations
rage
Kingdoms rise and fall There is still one King Reigning over all So I will not fear For this truth remains: That my God is, the Ancient of Days "The
Ancient of Days" is a name used for God
exclusively in the book of Daniel. This book
is a combination of history and prophecy with
the first six chapters being generally history
and the latter six being prophecy, written in
a style similar to that of the book of
Revelation.
The title "Ancient of
Days" appears only in Daniel 7. The first
occurrence is our daily text, where Daniel is
describing his vision of heaven. The title
"Ancient of Days" has been used as a source of
inspiration in art and music, denoting the
Creator's aspects of eternity combined with
perfection. Moses wrote, "Before the
mountains were born or You brought forth the
whole world, from everlasting to
everlasting, You are God" (Psalm
90:2). This reminder that we serve an
infinite, all-powerful God can bring
tremendous assurance during this season of
trial:
Though the dread of
night
Overwhelms my soul He is here with me I am not alone O His love is sure And He knows my name For my God is, the Ancient of Days In
our first daily text God speaks. "Yes, and from
ancient days I am He. No one can deliver out
of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
What a powerful statement of the sovereignty of
God! "God comes before time itself. Before there
was ever a day, God was. So, His strength is
infinitely greater than anyone else’s; He can
rightly say there is no one who can deliver out
of My hand. When God does something, no one will
reverse it." (Enduring Word commentary)
Today rest in the assurance of the "Ancient of Days" as we together wait for His will and timing to be revealed. None
above Him, none before Him
All of time in His hands For His throne it shall remain and ever stand All the power all the glory I will trust in His name For my God is, the Ancient of Days Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily prayer: Ancient of Days, we read of Your great works and miraculous provisions throughout the generations. Remembering the days of old is a glimpse of Your sovereignty as You led Your people out of captivity, through famine and flood, through wars and mighty storms. We are not self-sufficient but our sufficiency is totally reliant on You, the Ancient of Days! You are the same yesterday, today and forever. Even as You brought Your people through in the days of old You will see us through all the way to the other side of eternity! We thank You for Jesus, our solid Rock and mighty fortress. In Him will I trust and through Him will I persevere. Amen. There
is one more verse we didn't place in the body of
our message but feel is so powerful:
Though I may not
see
What the future brings I will watch and wait For the Saviour king Then my joy complete Standing face to face In the presence of the Ancient of Days Brooksyne's
Note: I was awakened about 4 am with a
stirring in my heart to read Scripture and pray
earlier than usual, (not my usual time, for sure).
The Lord was speaking to me about the pandemic and
the opportunity we have for revival due to the
desperation people feel and many are
personally experiencing. History has shown us over
and over that fewer come to God during times of
prosperity, but rather during persecution or in
times of great need. So I have been praying for
God to raise up humble, dedicated, and fearless
leaders like those who led great revivals in the
past: John Wesley, George
Whitefield, D.L. Moody, Billy Graham and others who have
fearlessly proclaimed the gospel message of
salvation and God in His sovereignty drew people
to their sphere of influence leading to repentance
and national revival. Since the pandemic affects
the whole world I'm praying in faith for a
worldwide revival. Yesterday David, a British
reader, sent this perspective about Fanny
Crosby and how a cholera epidemic changed her life
as she served as a front line worker. Certainly it
is applicable to the coronavirus pandemic in our
generation.

Most
blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, victorious, Thy great Name we praise. O
worship the King, all glorious above,
And gratefully sing His wonderful love: Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor, and girded with praise. Today's
photos, including the lead photo of the Egret,
were taken by our 12 year old neighbor Joshua.
Joshua
and his family of nine live alongside Donegal
Creek. Although a bit blurry he took this photo of
two eagles in the field by his house. We have
nesting eagles along the Susquehanna River not far
from our home but wonder if they have also made a
nest along Donegal Creek right across from our
home since we've been seeing more flying over our
space. When they harvest the rye I intend to take
a walk along the creek to see if I can find it!
Here's a live cam of an eagle nest in
our area. It seems they are not disclosing the
location apart from "the eagles' nest, nuzzled
high up in a sycamore tree in Pennsylvania
farmland".
Bluebird
Mink,
I didn't even know we had mink around here!

We want to thank all who
financially support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our ministry
labor is comprised of approximately half our
time to Daily Encouragement and the other half
to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for
which we receive compensation. Each of these
ministries essentially is the same as a
part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of
us. Our goal for many years is that each would
provide half of our ministry expenses and
income.
