I expect that there is a seasonal fishing boat soon to be launched in the large pond. This would be a perfect home for those who love to fish.

"The Ultimate Game Changer"
"Raised By God’s Power!"

Message summary: The resurrection is God’s "exclamation point" to the good news available in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

"By His power God raised the Lord from the dead" (1 Corinthians 6:14).

This week we have been considering the prominent use of the phrase "game changer" which is being used to describe various projected developments in combatting the Coronavirus pandemic.

Our focus this resurrection week is on the ultimate game changer, the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead! This last Sunday Christians all around the world celebrated Easter in creative ways while dealing with our many new restrictions. A common theme was the empty church celebrated the empty tomb since the church (body) was dispersed into homes where we worshiped as individual families.

Christ Risen Indeed! (Russian)
Russian, "Christ Risen Indeed".

The Russian language does not use the word "is" in the way we normally state in English, "The Lord is risen indeed". This is not make a mistake but they purposely state, "Christ Risen Indeed! (as seen above)" I'm so thankful for the emphatic statement of our Lord's resurrection!

The centrality of the resurrection is expressed in each major section of the New Testament. Today we examine the centrality of the resurrection in Paul’s epistles also known as the Pauline Epistles.

Paul wrote thirteen epistles (letters) each one beginning with his self-identification, "Paul..." His first epistle, in the order of Scriptures, is Romans and it doesn’t take him long to state the foundation of the resurrection. In verse three he states, "His resurrection from the dead". All though his teachings we have many references to the resurrection, a truth he considered "of first importance". (See 1 Corinthians 15:3)

Our brief daily text states, "By His power God raised the Lord from the dead".

The Precept Austin online commentary states, "The resurrection furnishes the most conclusive and irrefutable evidence of Jesus’ divine Sonship. By the demonstration of His ability to conquer death, a power belonging only to God Himself (the Giver of life), Jesus established beyond all doubt that He was indeed God, the Son."

The resurrection is God’s "exclamation point" to the good news available in Christ Jesus through the gospel. Paul saw the resurrection as the foundation of our new life in Christ. "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God" (Colossians 3:1).

Today and every day let us proclaim this truth:

I believe in the Son
I believe in the risen One
I believe I overcome
By the power of His blood
Amen, Amen
I'm alive, I'm alive
Because He lives
Amen, Amen
Let my song join the one that never ends
Because He lives!

Be encouraged today,

Praying manDaily prayer: Father, the permanence and sting of death was removed when You raised Christ Jesus from the dead. Had You sent ten thousand angels to rescue Him from the hands of His enemies and thwarted His execution on the cross we would not know of Your awesome power according to the Spirit of holiness by Christ’s resurrection from the dead. Though Satan plotted Your plan prevailed, and because of that, we who believe are now raised with Christ, who is seated at Your right hand. You have set eternity in the hearts of people and because of that we can set our affections on things above causing us to be homesick for a place we’ve never been. Where You are is where we long to be. In Christ’s Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Personal update: We remain essentially home-bound although we did get out yesterday. Early in the morning I went up to Lebanon County with one of our business owners and was able to visit the employees who continue working in a plant producing a life sustaining product. These employees were very busy and expressed appreciation that they were still working and sensing fulfillment in doing their part in this crisis. However most of the companies we serve have suspended operations or scaled back considerably. We seek to maintain contact through other means and have had various ministry opportunities already this week.

Yesterday afternoon we did venture out for some provisions and purposefully traveled some back roads in our scenic county.

Sunrise yesterday lit up our back yard in a dramatic fashion!

Schenck's Mill Covered Bridge
Schenck's Mill Covered Bridge
We've noticed some of our covered bridges now have this barrier. Several years ago a covered bridge was severely damaged when a tractor-trailer truck tried to drive through!

Spookynook Greenhouse (click to enlarge)
We stopped by the Spookynook Greenhouse, a spacious Amish-owned operation to purchase some Petunias and other flowers. Due to Ester's heart condition we have kept her home even when we've gone to get groceries. She begged to get out yesterday, tired of being homebound, and rode along with us snapping photos. This location was a great spot for her to get out, walk around, and breathe some fresh air away from home.

As usual, the Amish offer some of their home canned veggies and fruit.

Donate to Daily Encouragement Net

We want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of approximately half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive compensation. Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each would provide half of our ministry expenses and income.

If you would consider making a donation to our ministry see here for more information.
