"The
Builder Of Everything"
Message summary: Today we choose to unashamedly place our faith in the God of the universe for He is indeed the builder of everything! Rather than refusing to believe we most assuredly declare, "We believe"! Listen to this message on your audio player. "In
the beginning God created the heavens and the
earth" (Genesis 1:1). "For every house is built
by someone, but God is the builder of
everything" (Hebrews 3:4). "By faith we
understand that the universe was formed at God’s
command, so that what is seen was not made out
of what was visible" (Hebrews 11:2).
We
have followed the recent news of the tornadoes
that went through Nashville early yesterday
morning leaving much destruction and far more
tragically, the loss of 24 lives with about 34
unaccounted for as of this writing. The location
caught our attention, not only because of the
devastation but also because Brooksyne's niece
lives in that area. We were both raised in a
region (Midwest) especially prone to tornadoes. A
shared memory Brooksyne and I have from childhood
is the tornado drills at school, hers in Oklahoma
and mine in Missouri. Tornadoes are always in
varying degrees destructive. I have never read of
one that was constructive!
Speaking
of building structures, today we are replacing the
metal roof on our utility barn. The barn was built
about 30 years ago by the original owner using
salvaged material such as old timbers and barn
siding. It makes for a solid and interesting
structure that I use as a "man cave", workshop and
storage in the large loft. The original roof was
three different types of sheet metal roofing. It
now leaks and about 8 years ago we tried to paint
it but the paint didn't hold up well. So our
friend Jesse and his son, Moses, are over and are
presently installing the new roof with the
appropriate color "barn red".
Now
I didn't personally observe the barn being built
but if I were to conjecture that it was a result
of a tornado coming through our area and randomly
blowing in assorted materials resulting in a fully
constructed barn you would rightly think I'm
crazy. The Bible says, "Every house is built
by someone" and that would apply to barns as
well! Even if I said a wind storm or other natural
conditions removed the old roof and then picked up
the new roofing materials and installed them that
would seem absolutely crazy. No, Jesse is going to
have to remove the old roof and install the new
one!
In
regard to Creation we accept the matter of fact
statement from Hebrews 13:4, "God is the
builder of everything". Many in the world
mock at such a belief. "It’s too simple" or "it’s
not scientific" or "it’s old-fashioned" they tout.
However
their view is even more ridiculous than the
tornado conjecture above however "scientific" they
may assert themselves. A common expression of
disrespect to those who believe in the Scriptural
teaching concerning Creation is that we are
"science deniers" and so forth. We need to
recognize the foolishness of this world and those
who are actually ignoring overwhelming evidence!
Atheists,
agnostics and even some professing Christians
vehemently deny the Genesis Creation account yet
they place their faith in the fallible, changing
notions of human wisdom and refuse to believe in
the overwhelming evidence for a Creator God. And
as described in Acts 19 they malign those of us
who do believe in God. Preaching concerning the
Kingdom of God in Ephesus Paul spoke boldly and
persuasively but "some of them became
obstinate; they refused to believe and publicly
maligned the Way" (Acts 19:8,9).
Today we choose to unashamedly place our faith in the God of the universe for
He is indeed the builder of everything! Rather
than refusing to believe we most assuredly
declare, "We believe"!
Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily
prayer: Father, You
are great and greatly to be praised. You are
the Builder of everything we see and so much
that we’ve not yet laid eyes upon, both on
the earth and in the heavens above. We are
looking forward to the future city with
eternal foundations where You are the
architect and builder. Our everlasting home
in heaven is not built with human hands, but
by Your divine design. Keep us faithful till
that glorious promotion day! In the Name of
Jesus we pray, Amen.

Here's
another view of our two story barn with the worn roof
that is being replaced today. Jesse will reinstall the
cupola with a copper eagle weather-vane at the top.
Early this
morning the work began by removing the cupola!
Yesterday
morning following our first chaplain call to Audrey's we
ate breakfast at the Railroad Diner in Richland, PA with
our friend Linda Trout. We met Linda in a church we
served about ten years ago. Brooksyne ate the
Pennsylvania Dutch "Baked Oatmeal" quite popular in our
area. I was a little more reckless and ordered the
"Trainwreck" which was a mishmash of vegetables, meats,
and cheeses wrapped in an omelet. The food was great so
we'll visit again, and hopefully next time the train
will roar past us on the track next to the Railroad
Diner.
Derek Horst
bought the Railroad Diner when he was
still a teenager several years ago.
That's
ambition! "Teenager takes over
Richland’s Railroad Diner" article in local paper

We want to thank all who
financially support our ministry. We
realize there are many fine ministries and
causes requesting support but if the Lord
would lead you we surely need and appreciate
the financial support from our readers and
listeners. Our ministry
labor is comprised of approximately half our
time to Daily Encouragement and the other half
to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for
which we receive compensation. Each of these
ministries essentially is the same as a
part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of
us. Our goal for many years is that each would
provide half of our ministry expenses and
income.
