Truck message

"His Name Is Jesus"

Message summary: We urge you to make a willful choice by coming to Christ as a repentant sinner and placing your faith in Him as you make your confession of faith personal.

Listen to our message on your audio player.

"For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:9-11).

On the way to church this last Sunday morning we got behind a truck that had a thoughtful, hopefully convicting message, on the back of the trailer (See photo above). It reads, "His name is not the man upstairs, His name is Jesus". I suppose we have all heard people irreligiously referring to God as "the man upstairs".

I don't know whether this was an expression of faith by the truck driver or the trucking company but many will surely see it. Interestingly, the trucking company is from Springfield, Missouri where we met while attending Bible College.

Jesus is not the man upstairs but the Lord of lords and King of kings!

As young Christians one of our favorite choruses we sang often declares the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Many of you have sung it, regardless of where you live:

He is Lord, He is Lord,
He is risen from the dead and He is Lord.
Every knee shall bow,
Every tongue confess,
That Jesus Christ is Lord.

This well-known chorus is clearly based on the daily text (or perhaps a similar text in Romans 14:11). It is a portion of what many Bible students believe to be an ancient creedal statement of the early church. A creed is a statement regularly recited by believers in learning and expressing their faith. Some feel that it may have been an early hymn of the church, set to music to teach and reinforce sound doctrine. We like hymns that present solid Biblical truth and sound theology. An excellent example of this type of hymn, although seldom sung in most churches today, is "One Day" or "I Know Whom I Have Believed".

There is coming a time when every person who has ever lived will fall on bended knee, whether in heaven, on earth, or under the earth. Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

This confession is the fundamental point of distinction between believer and nonbeliever. Paul wrote, "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). This confession comes by the Spirit, for "No one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit" (1 Corinthians 12:3).

The future universal confession will be an indescribably exultant time for all who have made the confession in this life and lived for the Lord. As an old song states, "What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see."

But those who did not confess with their lips or in their lifestyle, that "Jesus is Lord" while living on this earth will most certainly do so at the Great Judgment. There will be no excuses, no more delays, no bargaining with God.
Unrepentant sinners including the most virulent mockers and avowed atheists from all the ages will on bowed knee confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The word for confess means "to admit openly, to acknowledge, to recognize, to acclaim." This universal confession will be "to the glory of God the Father".

I will have no choice regarding this matter at the Great Judgment. So I would sure rather do this now as a willful choice coming to Christ as a repentant sinner and place my faith in Him as I make my confession of faith personal. I also encourage you to do so today and you may personalize the chorus by saying or singing:

He's my Lord, He's my Lord,
He is risen from the dead and He's my Lord.
My- knee shall bow,
And my tongue confess,
That Jesus Christ is Lord.

Be encouraged today,

Praying manDaily Prayer: Jesus, Name above all names, I bow on my knees, confess with my lips and believe in my heart that You are the Lord and Savior of my life. You died for my sins and rose to life making it possible for me to die to sin and rise to new life in You. I thank You for the victory that is mine as I, in my heart, set Christ apart as Lord, not only in this world but in the world to come. Amen.

Donate to Daily Encouragement Net We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support  but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners.

Our ministry labor is comprised of approximately half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive compensation. Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each would provide half of our ministry expenses and income.
