As Spring approaches we are beginning to see evidence of field work such as this team on 340 east of Bird-In-Hand. "I
Once Was Lost"
Message
summary:
It doesn't matter how
lost you are today. You
can be found! "For the
Son of Man has come to
seek and to save that
which was lost".

"For this
son of mine was dead
and is alive again; he
was lost and is found"
(Luke 15:24). "For the
Son of Man has come to
seek and to save that
which was lost" (Luke
19:10).
Some of our chaplain calls require us to visit a company at a specific time such as an early morning visit since service employees head to their jobsite quite early in the morning or another company where I can share a brief devotional. But with
others we have
flexibility and will be
able to mosey along as
we drive to their
companies. I like to
take various routes to
see different scenery
along the way. If I get
lost I know I am heading
in the right direction
and will eventually find
a road I recognize.
The other day
we were driving between
two companies in a
scenic rural part of
northern Lebanon County.
My brother Pat called
and I informed him I was
off the well-beaten path
getting lost. Although
he knew what I meant he
chided, "Just be sure
you're not getting lost
spiritually." Indeed,
apart from Christ, we
are all lost spiritually
but through God's grace
we can joyfully declare
"I once was lost but now
I'm found."
Our first daily text is from the familiar story of the prodigal or lost son. In the parable the younger son demanded his share of the inheritance and left his father to pursue what he believed was a more exciting life. Instead he entered into the worst form of being lost; that of being spiritually lost. It is the lost spiritual state we are all born into, but the Father awaits us to repent of our sinfulness and come to Him by faith. Jesus declared that the prodigal's humility, regret, confession of his sin and his return to the Father caused him to become alive again from his dead and lost spiritual state. The text is a wonderful expression of the father's delight when his son returned. "For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found." It doesn't matter how lost you are today. You can be found! "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost". Humble yourself, acknowledge your sin, and return to the Father. He eagerly awaits your return and I can assure you that His response will be, "For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found". Amazing
grace, how sweet the
sound,
That saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now I'm found, Twas blind but now I see! Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Many younger people grew up using GPS and have no sense of where they are spatially apart from the device. I recall a conversation with Cameron, a young man who works in the service department for a local HVAC firm we serve as chaplains. He told me he had several service calls scheduled for the day. I asked him if he knew the service area well enough to get to the service calls. Turns out he relies completely on GPS to keep him found! When I was a teenager I recall working along with my dad as he traveled all over the Kansas City metro area doing HVAC service work. I suppose I never gave it much thought how my dad and other service workers at that time found places prior to GPS! I also suppose the GPS was practically unimaginable in the late 60's/early 70's! To receive the "Daily Encouragement" each Monday-Friday through email see this page to subscribe to our email list. You can also subscribe to the Wordpress rss feed or through a Wordpress email subscription. (See the email subscription on the right side after opening this page.) We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of approximately half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive compensation. Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each would provide half of our ministry expenses and income. If you would consider making a donation to our ministry see here for more information. Please Note: We also provide this easy option due to the convenience, for international supporters, and for those who may not be concerned regarding receiving an official tax deductible receipt.
