![]() A beautiful Sunday afternoon on the Old Windmill Farm. (Photo by Ester) "Proclaiming The Name Of The Lord" Message summary: Today, let us, like Moses, renew our covenant and faithfully proclaim the name of the Lord. Let us continually with joy "praise the greatness of our God" for who He is and for His remarkable, supernatural and steadfast presence in our lives. ![]() "I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!" (Deuteronomy 32:3). ![]() It was too late to find the little boy, who probably wondered what happened to his Sunday School craft/book. If anyone reads this and knows a little boy named Brady who lost his Sunday School craft/gospel booklet*¹, we still have it and would be pleased to give it back to him! But it did get us to thinking of our call to proclaim the name of the Lord. The little boy was inadvertently proclaiming the name of the Lord by sharing the gospel message. Many of our readers, including us, were exposed to the gospel message, through the wordless book either through Sunday School or VBS when we were children. ![]() The daily text is a portion of a song that Moses recited to the people of Israel shortly before his death. Notice that Moses did not appear to have grown weary with the mighty God he served nor was he bored in his walk of faith. He had lived 120 years and this song was a renewed expression of what the latter 40 years of his life had been all about. When he had dramatically heard from God at the burning bush he began a long journey of faithful service for the Lord. After repeatedly confronting Pharaoh, he led the people out of Egypt and through the desert and now gave them his final message on the plains east of the Jordan River. Though Moses would not be entering the Promised Land, he accepts that bitter disappointment and maintains a positive, faith-filled outlook as expressed in the daily text where he declares before his audience, "I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!". It's a reminder to us of God's call for each of our lives. It is also a reminder that we may not see every dream fulfilled on this side, but the joyous reality of heaven awaits the faithful. This is immeasurably more than the fulfillment of any dream on earth. *² Today, let us, like Moses, renew our covenant and faithfully proclaim the name of the Lord. Let us continually with joy "praise the greatness of our God" for who He is and for His remarkable, supernatural and steadfast presence in our lives. Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber ![]() *¹ Wordless Book: The Wordless Book can be traced back to Charles H. Spurgeon in 1866. The little book attached to Brooksyne's skirt had words included with the gospel message (color coded) put to the words of a poem:
Old Windmill Farm Horse-drawn Hayride/Eagle Watch Tour ![]() Yesterday afternoon following church we drove over to the Old Windmill Farm to visit the Lapp family. Jesse wanted to take us out on a horse-drawn hay ride to see the eagles. Many eagles congregate on his property this time of year due to the Esbenshade Turkey Farm on the adjacent property. Esbenshade's is the oldest turkey farm in the US. Of course the turkeys are being dressed for Thanksgiving and there are a lot of tasty, easy picking morsels lying out in the field for the eagles to enjoy! ![]() During the ride the horses even seemed to be curious about the eagles. ![]() The eagles were resting in the trees around the property and Moses was on his pony trying to stir them up for some in-flight photos. However the combination of distance, being on a wagon and not having telephoto lenses resulted in less than optimum eagle photos. ![]() Daisy the goat seems to be in the middle of about anything that is happening on the Old Windmill Farm! ![]() Daisy must have been tired after the bumpy hay ride. After we left Jesse took this photo of her resting after she found a nice, cozy, warm spot in the milking barn! ![]() Saturday evening we had some special friends over for dinner who were eating their dessert in this photo. Brooksyne invited our friends who are presently in pastoral service as well as two retired couples. They are seated across from their spouses: (starting in the foreground: Jesse & Wilma Dourte, John & Faithe Keefer, DJ (Doc) & Anna Mary Paglia. The Dourtes have been married 70 years; the Paglias for 69 years. The Webers and Keefers are the more recently married among the group:) Before our meal Anna Mary played the piano while we gathered in the living room and sang some of our favorite hymns. As the old saying goes, a fun time was had by all. "I wanted to take the opportunity to thank your family for the wonderful experience over the weekend. My daughters had a fantastic time exploring and playing with the animals. I recorded parts of the trip and produced a small video for my daughter so she could share the experience with her friends." Video (very well done!)
