"Lost, But Now Found!"
"For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found" (Luke 15:24). "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).
There are many different ways we can be lost. We can be geographically lost. Yesterday I spoke to Cameron, a young man who works in the service department for a local HVAC firm we serve as chaplains. He told me he had several service calls scheduled for the day. (Our very hot weather has been a boom to companies installing and repairing air conditioning!)
I
asked him if he knew the county well enough to get to the service
calls. Turns out he relies on GPS to keep him found! When I was a teenager I recall
working along with my Dad as he traveled all over the Kansas City area
doing HVAC service work. I suppose I never gave it much thought how
my dad and other service workers found places prior to GPS!
We can also be spiritually lost. Our daily text is from the familiar story of the prodigal or lost son. In the parable the younger son had it all and left it to pursue what he believed was a more exciting life. He entered into the worst form of being lost; that of being spiritually lost. It is the lost spiritual state we are all born into, but the Father awaits us as we repent of our sinfulness and come to Him by faith.
Jesus
declared that the prodigal's humility, regret, confession of his sin
and his return to the Father caused him to become alive again from his
dead and lost spiritual state. The daily text is a wonderful expression of the father's delight when his son returned.
It doesn't matter how lost you are today. Humble yourself, acknowledge your sin, and return to the Father. He eagerly awaits your return and I can assure you that His response will be, "For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found."

to follow You and serve You all the days of my life. Thank You for
hearing my prayer.”
This week we visited the Daniel Boone Homestead in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.
Yesterday I shared this photo I took in the main house at the Boone Homestead. I think it stumped our readers, for our responses were sparse. The tour guide told us that it is a cupboard specifically built for holding the family Bible demonstrating reverence toward the Scriptures held in many homes.
Here's one of the homes on the site.
Brooksyne and Ester had to stoop to get inside the front door at one of the old colonial era homes.
We will share some more photos from our visit to the Daniel Boone Homestead next week. This historical site is located here (Google map).

This beautiful hymn was written in 1880 by Will Thompson who was born in East Liverpool, Ohio. Though a very wealthy and successful writer he chose to play and sing to small churches throughout the Midwest. In 1899 Mr. Thompson paid a visit to the famous evangelist D.L. Moody, who was very ill and near death. Most visitors were turned away, but when Moody heard that Thompson was downstairs, he called for him. "Will," he said, "I would rather have written 'Softly and Tenderly Jesus is Calling,' more than anything I have been able to do in my whole life." Obviously the message of this hymn deeply touched the heart of D.L. Moody.

This week we have featured photos from several friends. For many years I have used Doris High's photos. Doris is a local friend who shares her many photos on Xanga.
I realized as I got through the week that several others have allowed me to use their photos through the years. We are grateful for all those who share their photos on this site!
