"Walking In Integrity"

"And he still holds fast his integrity" (Job 2:3).  "Let Him weigh me with accurate scales, and let God know my integrity" (Job 31:6).

Teen Challenge is a ministry dealing with people who are overcoming life-controlling issues such as drugs and alcohol. It was started in New York City back in the fifties by David Wilkerson, who is faithfully serving Christ to this day.

At the heart of the program and surely the key to its remarkable effectiveness is the emphasis upon redemption in and through Jesus Christ. Through my ministry years I have met many who have been discipled in the Teen Challenge program from all ages. (It started out for teens but practically from the beginning has been open to all ages.)

Today I will be sharing a message concerning "Walking In Integrity" with the Teen Challenge staff at the training center in Rehersburg, Pennsylvania. Due to the early hour I am writing this morning I will share the main points in my daily encouragement message today.

"And he still holds fast his integrity." This is God's commendation of Job after his first testing trial.  Job held fast to his integrity throughout his trial and that's genuine evidence of true integrity. Later he stated, "Let God know my integrity." That's my prayer for my life today and is my challenge to the staff and to each of you.

Consider these main bedrock characteristics of true, God-honoring integrity:

  • The man of integrity lives by the unchanging standards of God's Word rather than the vacillating standards of the world.
  • The man of integrity lives to please God rather than to please man.
  • The man of integrity lives with an eternal perspective rather than a temporal perspective.

Be encouraged today,

Photo of Ken and Vickie Last night Ken and Vickie, two long-term Daily Encouragement readers from Ohio, made a stop here to visit us during their vacation. We had never met them personally but Ken called and requested that we join them for dinner while they were in our area. They shared their marvelous testimony of marital reconciliation which I expect to develop in a future message.

Some supplemental verses on integrity from the Book of Proverbs.
"The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out."  Proverbs 10:9
"The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity."  Proverbs 11:3
"Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner."  Proverbs 13:6
