"He's My King!"

"The LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God" (Deuteronomy 7:21). "How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over all the earth" (Psalm 47:2).

Yesterday I wrote about "The King". I want to continue with that theme today as I share this message of encouragement. I recall a sermon I heard at a conference many years ago and last night I found a portion of it online titled, "My King". It really, really blesses me. In fact I listened to it again this morning prior to preparing this message! I particularly like this line, "You can't impeach Him and He's not gonna resign!"

The daily verses are timeless truths that build my faith and assurance as I ponder them.  In our fallen world of terrorist threats, impending hurricanes and corrupt politicians may they speak to your heart today.

Moses shared these words with the children of Israel in his final sermon. They were preparing to transition into the Promised Land and Moses knew they needed this encouragement. "The LORD your God is in your midst." God has not changed and this very moment we can have an assurance that our God is in our midst.

He is "a great and awesome God" Many of us will recall that great chorus. "Our God is an awesome God". The sense of the Hebrew word means "to fear, revere or cause to frighten"; emotions seen in the Bible when people had a close encounter with God, such as Moses.  But it is a holy and healthy reverence.

He is the "great King over all the earth."  He is King over the macrocosm and the microcosm.  He rules over you as much as He rules over nations.  He is King over the fallen sparrow and the fallen world leader.  Indeed He surely is King over all the earth and the universe!  Today join me in worshiping this great King and I hope each reader can declare, "He's my King!"

You are King of Creation and King of my life,
King of the land and the sea,
You were King of the heavens before there was time,
And King of all kings You will be.

We bow down and we crown You the King,
We bow down and we crown You the King,
We bow down and we crown You the King,
King of all kings you will be! *

Be encouraged today,

Stephen C. Weber

Brooksyne's prayer – Father God, You are mighty, great, and awesome.  And yet You choose to reside in my frail heart.  I experience Your unfathomable power daily when I take my first breath, when I see the sun rise in the east and when I witness the change of the seasons.  Your glorious presence surrounds me and Your Spirit lives within me – guiding me, encouraging me, empowering me to be Your visible hand reaching out to those who need You but have not found their way.  Your Word tells me that You are in my midst – so You're in the midst of all that concerns me and You are working for my good. You are the King of Kings and the Lord of lords and You are the Lord of my heart. I honor You, my King and my Lord.

Here is an audio file of the message I refer to in today's encouragement.  "My King"  It's about 7 minutes long and I believe it will really bless you. Watch out or you just might shout! Here's a text version.

Our podcasting site is now up and running. Special thanks to Brad, a long-time reader from Canada, who set this up. This site will also archive the daily audio messages. See here for an explanation on how to use podcasting.
