"A Thanksgiving Scripture Reading"

Note: Podcast not prepared for this message.

Today we will not send our regular format of a Daily Encouragement but rather a selection of Scriptures on Thanksgiving for either personal reading or with your family. In some cases the pronouns are changed to make the reading more personal. References are provided for faithful Bereans to examine in the version of your preference.

We will enter Your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise; we will give thanks to You and praise Your name (Psalm 100:4).

So then, just as we received Christ Jesus as Lord, we will continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as we were taught, and overflowing in thankfulness (Colossians 2:7).

We will give thanks to You Lord, because of Your righteousness and we will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high (Psalm 7:17).

Thanks be to God! You give us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:57).

The Lord is our strength and our shield; our hearts trust in Him, and we are helped. Our hearts leap for joy and we will give thanks to Him in song (Psalm 28:7).

We will give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for us in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

We will give You thanks in the great assembly; among throngs of people we will praise You (Psalm 35:18).

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:28, 29).

We give thanks to You, O God, we give thanks for Your name is near; men tell of Your wonderful deeds (Psalm 75:1).

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!  (2 Corinthians 9:15)

We will give thanks to You Lord, for You are good; Your love endures forever (Psalm 107:1).

We give thanks to You Lord God Almighty, who is and  who was, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign
Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength to our God for ever and ever. Amen! (Revelation 11:17, 7:22).

Be encouraged today and be thankful!

2018 portrait for calendar cardWe pray all of our readers will have a blessed Thanksgiving Day whether or not it is an official holiday in your country. Stephen's older brother Pat and his wife Laverne, who live in the Lehigh Valley about 2 hours from us, will be joining us this afternoon for our meal. It's a beautiful but quite chilly day here in Lancaster County early in the morning when we prepare this but we hope to be outside some to enjoy the beauty of God's Creation.

Each year we prepare a business card with a calendar on the back to distribute to our chaplaincy contacts in various companies and this coming year we are using the photo to the left taken at Hershey Gardens on Tuesday. We not only provide our contact information on the card but a short Scripture text that we hope people will consider. For our 2018 card our verse is "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer" (Romans 12:12).

Support Our MinistryWe want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive a fee (of course this percentage of time varies week by week). Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each phase would provide half of our ministry expenses and income. If you would like to make a donation to our ministry see here for more information. Donations through my chaplaincy endorsing ministry are tax deductible and will be receipted directly by them. Thank you!
