Our neighbor Doug took this photo of a Green Heron on Donegal Creek which is along the trail we often walk along across the field from our house. "Who Is Like The Lord Our God?" Message summary: Let us consider the greatness of our God! He is immense, beyond measure, as far as one galaxy is from another. Inaccessible to our view, and yet tenderly accessible to our soul 24/7 since His Spirit dwells within the heart of the believer. Let us stay faithful to Him and follow in the paths He lays out for His children. Listen to our message on your audio player. "Who is like the Lord our God, Who is enthroned on high? (Psalm 113:5). "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, or with the breadth of His hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? (Isaiah 40:12). "To whom, then, will you compare God?" (Isaiah 40:18). Be enthroned upon the praises
Of a thousand generations You are worthy, Lord of all And unto You, the slain and risen King We lift our voice with heaven singing Worthy, Lord of all Today's Scripture texts are all questions calling us to contemplate the greatness of God. The fortieth chapter of Isaiah is considered by many to be among the richest literature ever written. In our daily text Isaiah asks questions that merely point to the incomparable might of God. Each of these questions illustrate the awesome greatness and almighty power of God. Let's just consider one picture the prophet Isaiah paints of our all-powerful God when contrasted with the powerless creatures below, "Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand?" Now I've got a pretty big hand and I tried to see how much water I could place in the hollow of my hand and, as hard as I tried, I was unable to hold a tablespoon measurement without it spilling out the side of my cupped hand! Now of course neither Isaiah nor we are asserting that God is a physical being. But by creating an imaginative visual picture we are much more likely to consider the immensity and greatness of our God. This is the mighty, awe-inspiring God we serve! But in the previous verse he states, "He tends His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young" (Isaiah 40:11). That's the greatness of our God! He is immense, beyond measure, as far as one galaxy is from another. Inaccessible to our view, and yet tenderly accessible to our soul 24/7 since His Spirit dwells within the heart of the believer. Let us stay faithful to Him and follow in the paths He lays out for His children. Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily prayer: Father, it is commonly tempting to understand You in human terms and measure your worth such as Isaiah prolifically depicts in his prophetic book. When he describes the means by which we, Your created ones, go about measuring one's abilities it falls enormously short of what You, in Your divine nature, have done and what You will do. We are unable to understand or appreciate all that You do because we are the finite created ones and You are the infinite Creator. There is nothing and no one who can compare with You. You are the most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, Almighty, victorious! It is Your great name that we praise! Amen. Today we share some Autumn photos The trees on Kraybill Church Road across from our house are turning and displaying their autumn colors. But it sure doesn't last long! Farther up the road where it ends at Donegal Spring Road we have this beautiful tree next to our neighbor's barn. Here is an early morning view from Kraybill Church Road in front of our home across the field to our Amish neighbor's farm in the distance with fog in the background. The green cover grass was planted following the corn harvest and will be harvested next spring. (Click on photo to enlarge) This pumpkin wagon is near the train station in Strasburg, PA Driving through rural Lancaster County we often see signs with Scripture verses. However, the other day we passed this stenciling on the front of a garage. Brooksyne took this photo of a tree on the Old Windmill Farm. We had a bright sun that afternoon. want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine
ministries
and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead
you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our
readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of half our
time to Daily
Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to
companies for which we receive a fee (of course this percentage of time
varies
week by week). Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a
part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many
years is that each phase would provide half of our ministry expenses
and
income. If you would like to make a donation to our ministry see here
for more information. Donations through my chaplaincy endorsing ministry are tax deductible and will
be receipted directly by them. Thank you!
Please Note: Our chaplain agency is unable to provide a receipt if the donation is made through PayPal. However we provide this option due to the convenience, international supporters, and for those who may not be concerned regarding receiving an official receipt. Click here to donate using PayPal.
