Old Point Loma Lighthouse 10/18/16

Old Point Lima Lighthouse
At dusk, Nov. 15, 1855 the oil lamp burned for the first time. For the next 36 years, except on foggy nights, the light welcomed sailors to San Diego harbor. Mariners reported seeing the light from 30 to 32 miles. The light station was replaced in 1891, at the bottom of the hill, due to the fog and low clouds that often obscured the light.

"The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power"

Message Summary: Today we urge all who may read this to place their faith in Christ which provides an assurance of His atoning blood that will never lose its power.

Please note: We are visiting a longtime friend here in California and will not be preparing podcasts while we are away from our home "studio". Also since we are at a different time zone three hours later (not earlier as we have inadvertently stated the last two days) and working on only one computer the message delivery times may vary as well as the depth of our messages!

This week our messages are prompted by a medley of
Andraé Crouch songs we heard last Sunday at Shadow Mountain Community Church near San Diego where radio speaker David Jeremiah pastors. We both enjoyed Crouch's music when we were young Christians and still benefit from the thoughtful lyrics that are just as relevant today. Today we consider the words to a power-packed song titled, "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power".

"For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross"  (Colossians 1:19,20).

The blood that Jesus shed for me, way back on Calvary;
the blood that gives me strength from day to day,
it will never lose its power.

It reaches to the highest mountain, and it flows to the lowest valley;
the blood that gives me strength from day to day,
it will never lose its power.

Yesterday we visited the Cabrillo National Monument, which is on the tip of Point Loma. Having turned 62 this last Friday I was able to purchase my lifetime pass for entrance into any National Park for $10.00 which is one of the few benefits of aging that I have looked forward to!

San Diego from Old Point Loma Lighthouse 10/18/16

From the Old Point Loma Lighthouse there is a stunning view of downtown San Diego across the Bay. In fact you also see a panoramic view of much of the San Diego metropolitan area as you gaze from left to right down into Mexico. (The photo above will enlarge if clicked but still shows only a small part of the panorama).

Earlier yesterday we had moseyed about the seaport and downtown area and, as is typical of any large city, we saw the many homeless and needy people. As I looked out I considered how many millions of people were in my field of view, yet just a miniscule percentage of the world's population.

It's astounding that the blood shed by our Lord on the cross of Calvary provides sufficient atonement for all who believe and turn to Him in faith.
"For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross."

The blood of Jesus will never lose its power. In life we see everything else lose power over time as it diminishes, whether it's due to the aging process or other contributing factors related to living here on earth. Saving faith is placing our trust in Jesus Christ as a living divine Person for forgiveness of our sins based on His shed blood providing eternal life with God. This definition emphasizes that saving faith is not just a belief in facts but personal trust in Jesus to save me. The definition emphasizes personal trust in Christ, not just belief in facts about Christ.

Today we urge all who may read this to place their faith in Christ which provides an assurance of His atoning blood that will never lose its power.

Be encouraged today,

Stephen & Brooksyne Weber

Praying manDaily prayer: Jesus, it is only through Your sacrificial blood that my sins are forgiven. Through Your fountain of forgiveness my guilty stains are plunged into the bottom of the ocean to be remembered no more. Thank you that the power of Your blood will never be diminished. All the adjectives in the dictionary cannot adequately describe the depth of my gratitude for such a selfless act of love. Thank You, Jesus, for paying the price for my redemption. Amen.

Some more photos from our San Diego trip:

San Diego still man with Brooksyne 10/18/16
We passed this meme and realized he was a real person once we spotted his tips bucket. Money was dropped in his bucket and he came to life. For some reason he chose to interact with Brooksyne and I caught this shot.

San Diego 10/18/16
Actually, we are really little people, when compared to this bigger than life statue of a nurse dressed in a white uniform, being embraced and kissed by a sailor to celebrate the end of World War II which became an enduring image. Interestingly, Gretchen Friedman, the nurse, died this year at age 92.

We explored some tidal pools at low tide. That's Brooksyne and Ester in the middle.

Pacific Ocean view daily encouragement prep 10/18/16
We are accustomed to our home office with views of farmland as we prepare our daily encouragement messages but during our trip we have a slightly different view!

Last night we watched the sunset in front of an outdoor fireplace!

Support Our MinistryWe want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive a fee (of course this percentage of time varies week by week). Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each phase would provide half of our ministry expenses and income. If you would like to make a donation to our ministry see here for more information. Donations through my chaplaincy endorsing ministry are tax deductible and will be receipted directly by them.  Thank you!
