"A Heartfelt Prayer"

Podcast not prepared today.

This morning we will be taking the train from Mount Joy into Harrisburg to participate in a prayer rally at Noon at the Capitol. The event is part of the Decision America Tour which is sponsoring prayer rallies in each state capitol throughout the country. Then we will be having a meal with the Pennsylvania Family Institute, which contends for Biblical and traditional values here in Pennsylvania

Here is a prayer Brooksyne wrote and we prayed together this morning before leaving. Perhaps you would like to join us.

Father in heaven,

Scripture informs us that we are in a wrestling match, not the blood and flesh kind but a spiritual wrestling match where our opponent is determined to capture and destroy our soul and our very lives, if possible. The apostle Paul writes that our opponents are wicked spirits in high places working in conjunction with the rulers of this world's darkness.

Though Jesus came as a light to those walking in darkness so many have chosen the darkness over the light.

My spirit asks, why do people choose darkness over light? Because the powerful king of evil, Satan himself, is behind all human weakness and wrongdoing. The nations rage and peace is unachievable within our own hearts when we turn away from the light of the gospel and look to the world's empty way of life-destroying answers for that which ails our sin sick soul.

It's no wonder the nations rage and are out to destroy one another, for when we are not at peace with the King of kings and Lord of lords we are not at peace with each another. We are desperately in need of a worldwide revival where people surrender their hearts to You, Almighty God, where they turn away from the ravaging darkness
of sin and turn to the eternal brightness of life through Jesus, Your resurrected Son. It's our only hope for peace in this life and for all eternity.

Amen.

Stephen & Brooksyne Weber

Brooksyne's note: Today's prayer was prompted by something very close to my heart.
Our local Lancaster newspaper headline news posted an article yesterday, concerning the terrifying number of fatal opiate overdoses in Lancaster County, now 16 in 24 days. (Lancaster County has a population of about 550,000) This spiraling death rate is likely similar all across our land. But my heavy heart groans in pain as I add my friend, Chrissy, to that disastrous statistic since she died of an overdose last night making that heart-stabbing statistic, "now 17 in 24 days". She leaves behind an eight year old son. And now I grieve with her Christian parents and family who desperately sought to help her through her many years of addiction.

I came to know this young lady through my chaplaincy, prayed with her and sought to help her numerous times. So I grieve as one who had hoped and prayed that I would eventually see her flourish and free from her dependency on drugs, reaching out to others who had chosen the same destructive path she had taken.

The Lancaster newspaper article is here but may not open for all due to some type of registration.

Amish man on open cart near BBs Quarryville, PA 9/14/16
Yesterday after several company visits we visited the SOLANCO Fair in Quarryville to visit some of the sales team at JK Mechanical who had a display booth set up. On the way we stopped by BB's Grocery and saw this Amish man on an open cart.

Support Our MinistryWe want to thank all who financially support our ministry. We realize there are many fine ministries and causes requesting support but if the Lord would lead you we surely need and appreciate the financial support from our readers and listeners. Our ministry labor is comprised of half our time to Daily Encouragement and the other half to our chaplaincy ministry to companies for which we receive a fee (of course this percentage of time varies week by week). Each of these ministries essentially is the same as a part-time job (20+ hours weekly) for each of us. Our goal for many years is that each phase would provide half of our ministry expenses and income. If you would like to make a donation to our ministry see here for more information. Donations through my chaplaincy endorsing ministry are tax deductible and will be receipted directly by them.  Thank you!
