"Pouring Forth Speech" "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge" (Psalm 19:1,2). We've had several days of beautiful weather here in southern Pennsylvania, with the inevitable hints that autumn is on the way! Tomorrow, September 22, the autumnal equinox will occur at precisely 10:49 A.M. in our time zone (Eastern) and autumn will officially arrive. At this point the earth will be precisely in line with the sun at the equator. The movement of objects in space is so predictable and precise that astronomers can pinpoint the exact time of this and other astronomical events many years ahead. And to think, some people actually have the faith to believe this all happened by chance! Autumn is a time the air becomes noticeably cooler, especially at night. We soon observe the beautiful green leaves turning a fiery glow before falling to the ground. Brooksyne and I both enjoy the fall season where golden and auburn colors accent the landscapes seen especially in the brilliant colors of the burning bush, autumn ash, and red maples. How marvelous is God's creation along with the perfect orderliness of His glorious works. Last night I looked up to a clear black sky and today it is a clear blue. As I ponder the daily verse I consider the great God we serve as proclaimed by the heavens which declare the glory of God and the skies which proclaim the work of His hands. Some 3,000 years ago David looked up into the sky and made the proclamation found in the daily text. Although I am more familiar with the first verse I find great blessing from the second as well: "Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge." Wow, isn't that true! Some are observant and listen, taking in this rich display of knowledge, though most give little attention. Let us look up to the skies that expand far beyond the human eye or the lens of the most sophisticated telescope. Listen to the pouring forth of speech as the heavens give dramatic evidence of God's existence; His power, love and care. Let us observe the displaying of knowledge, which day after day and night after night, faithfully declares the glory of God. Let us also rejoice in and proclaim the mighty work of His hands! Be encouraged today, Stephen & Brooksyne Weber Daily prayer: Father, we are surrounded by Your awesome works and the endless display of Your divine handiwork. The entire universe is in perfect order which is a testimony to Your greatness and continued watchful eye over all of Your creation. The silent heavens speak as they declare Your majesty and glory. They also testify to Your righteousness and faithfulness as the Lord who created them and gave them a purpose for existence. May we, as Your human creation, also proclaim Your righteousness and faithfulness day after day. May our lives display the work of the Holy Spirit as we continue to grow in faith until the day of Christ's return. Amen. Sheba, the company onsite dog at Sam S. Smucker and Sons Company, enjoys playing with any employee who will give her a moment. Joel is playing tug o'war with Sheba's tire. Jake is the fleet manager and Sheba's main caregiver. She enjoys drinking from a high pressure hose pointed directly at her mouth and just keeps coming back for more! See this video (11 seconds). When our dogs see Brooksyne holding a water hose they run the other direction. She usually waters her plants with it but it's also been used a few times to teach Mollie to quit digging up the flowers! In Wednesday's message we mentioned Phil Lapp, whom Stephen had met at a meeting that day. We found out his wife Laura operates Perfect Pots custom container gardens on property owned by some of our Amish friends just down the road from one of our companies so we decided to stop by. We drove through Strasburg, PA and stopped by the Strasburg Country Store and visited with Robin, who has managed the store for 28 years. She offered us an ample sample of fudge. We took a small sample but resisted the big slice (oh, to be young again and think nothing of our calorie intake). It's a real old-fashioned country store with wood floors and worth moseying through just for the ambience. We drove by the Strasburg Railroad where Thomas the Tank engine is causing a big stir and traffic jams from tourists and locals alike! At 9:30 in the morning people were beginning to arrive.
