"God's Solid Foundation"

"God's solid foundation stands firm" (2 Timothy 2:19).

I just finished an extremely suspenseful book that I read over the last couple of days even though it has over 400 pages. "The Ezekiel Option" is a work of fiction based on the author's understanding of Biblical prophecy. It's one of those books you just can't put down and although only God knows whether the specific prophetical interpretations are valid, it sure bears a strong witness for Christ.

As I read the book I am again reminded and blessed by the solid foundation we have as followers of Christ. This is true regardless of where we live or the present circumstances of our life. Our daily Scripture portion calls it a "solid foundation."  This foundation stands firm. One version reads "sure and unshaken."

The prophet Isaiah twice used the image of a foundation to illustrate the great stability we have in God. He wrote, our Lord is "a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed" (Isaiah 28:16). And "He will be the sure foundation for your times" (Isaiah 33:6)

All of us need to hide this assurance deep within our hearts. We just don't know when other foundations will crumble. Today some of you especially need this assurance.  For some of you the other foundations sure seem to be crumbling. You need to read the daily verse slowly and accept its truth deep in your spirit.

"God's solid foundation stands firm."  It really does.  In fact for many years the sub-theme for this daily encouragement, found at the very bottom footer, has been "living today anchored in God's solid foundation."  And praise God we sure do!

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled? *

Be encouraged today,

Brooksyne's Prayer:  Lord Jesus, help me to remain faithful to You and your calling upon my life.  Strengthen and grow my faith as I daily search Your Scriptures and apply their truths to my spiritual walk.  As I go through the trials and experiences of my earthly journey would You fix my eyes and my ever-wandering heart upon Jesus. When the howling winds and forceful storms of this life attempt to shipwreck my faith may they instead prove my faith to be more than sufficient to withstand the continual assaults from the enemy.  Because I take refuge in Jesus my spiritual foundation is firm, always dependable, and leads me to glorious victory.  Amen.
