"Delighting in God's Works"

"Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them" (Psalm 111:2).

Across from our home we have two large farm fields with a trail between them. As we walk back on the trail we come to an area with trees on both sides and this area is teeming with wildlife. Our dog gets visibly excited when we come to this part of our walk.  She's just about yanks Brooksyne's shoulder socket out of place when she sees the squirrels scrambling up the tree!

The Psalmist proclaims "great are the works of the Lord."  Elsewhere he declares that the Lord Himself is great (Psalm 48:1), but here he focuses on the greatness of God's works.  It's truly amazing what the Lord has done in creation and the redemption of His people.

Part of delighting in Him is pondering His works.  Look around and you can see the works of the Lord all around you regardless of where you live, although I must admit living in the country it's more abundant. Ponder these marvelous gifts from God.  Ponder means to reflectively examine and investigate. Let us proclaim with the Psalmist, "great are the works of the Lord!"

What a great Creator God we serve!  One of the theological "proofs" for the existence of God is the teleological, which asserts that the very design so evident in the order shows a Designer behind it.  I agree.  I see God's handiwork and design everywhere I look.  I declare today with another Psalm of David, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork" (Psalm 19:1).

Be encouraged today,

Note from Brooksyne: I'm in awe of God's generosity as He abundantly supplies us with wild colorful flowers in the fields and along the road.  Stephen picked me a bouquet of lavender flowers in the fields several days ago and they remained fresh for nearly a week.  I didn't have to plant, fertilize, mulch or weed these beautiful flowers.   They're just part of the colorful blessing of our daily lives that God has generously given to all in His marvelous handiwork.
