Ministry Vision

Thank you for your interest in regard to the support of the Daily Encouragement Net ministry. You probably reached this page from our support page.

This ministry is funded entirely by volunteer contributions from readers.  We prepared this page for those who may have a greater interest in our vision and the scope of this ministry. I want to share a bit more about the wonderful way this ministry is reaching many all over the world.

The daily mailing and the content of the website are of course offered as a ministry without any cost whatsoever. We do not use any overt advertising on either medium since in our opinion this would clutter and confuse the message. We merely rely on the Lord to provide for the expenses of this ministry as He leads people to support it.

The Daily Encouragement devotional perspective now has several thousand "opt-in" email addresses on the list. The content of the web site is updated each weekday with the daily encouragement message, and along with the testimonies and other resource materials has over 5,000 "hits" and over 1,000 page requests per day. The daily message is also available as a podcast and through RSS feed.

The mailing list is comprised of readers who have specifically requested receiving the material we offer. We do not "harvest" email addresses, buy them, or use the rather disgusting opt-out method (placing people involuntarily against their will on the list and then feeling responsible because we give them the opportunity to opt-out or unsubscribe). Of course those who have voluntarily requested our mail are provided easy instructions to unsubscribe or be removed from the list with each and every post.

Consider:

In a given month there is a strong likelihood that many thousands of different people benefit from this ministry in one way or another ranging from regular subscribers and readers to one-time readers coming across the website or a forwarded email. Apart from the obvious visits to the website and regular subscribers from all over the world I happen to know it has further impact in each of the following ways:

  • Multiple readers at each address.
  • Forwarded copies and in some cases secondary forwards. (People forwarding on forwards they have received!)
  • Those that are printed out and distributed or placed on bulletin boards. I know of one large company that prints the messages out and makes them available to their employees.
  • Ideas and illustrations for sermons, teachings, etc.
  • That many times a devotional may be forwarded to and read by a seeker. They may subscribe and get a regular small daily dose of truth! Each daily encouragement has a link to the plan of salvation in the footer.
  • That the contents of the website and email subscription are absolutely free. There is very little emphasis on money, sales, advertisements, loud appeals for contributions, etc. on the surface on either the daily email post or the website.
  • The website has many additional resources apart from the daily message.

How you can support this ministry:

  • Pray for Brooksyne and me. We are the staff of Daily Encouragement Net! I am very thankful for a volunteer in Canada who assists me with the tech dimensions and is presently providing website and podcast hosting
  • Tastefully forward any message to those you feel might be encouraged by it. Forwards are a great way to promote the ministry to others. The best forwards in my view are when you personally note why you feel the particular message would be appropriate for the person you’re sending it to and sending it individually. (The worst forwards are those sent to a group list with no personal note, which I generally delete without reading.)  Tip: Consider copying and pasting the entire contents into a new email rather than using the forward function, which often contains annoying bullets before each line.
  • If you have a website consider linking to the daily devotional. This will give your site fresh, spiritual content. All you have to do is link to the main page <www.dailyencouragement.net> since the current daily encouragement is placed on that page and updated each weekday morning.
  • Place a link to the website (current message) on the sig line in your email.
  • The material is freely available to use as illustrations in teachings, etc. Consider stating "this material is from a website called dailyencouragement.net"
  • Links to a ready to print business card template and poster are available below.
  • I have received technical help from readers all over the world for which I am most appreciative.
  • Daily Encouragement Net is an affiliate of Christianbook.com. When you purchase books, music and other items from this site you help fund this ministry. (In order for Daily Encouragement Net to receive a commission you must use this link.)

Financial support for this ministry is needed for the following:

  • ISP and server space – These are the costs associated with internet access and space on a server for the website. Due to the volume of uploaded material and email I must use a broadband connection and the site requires a large and fast server with a dedicated IP address. (As mentioned above a volunteer supporter in Canada presently pays for the website and podcasting hosting!)
  • Domain expenses – The costs to secure and keep the dailyencouragement.net domain name.
  • Mailing list management – The professional service I use to host the mailing list.
  • Computers and other hardware - I have a desktop as well as a laptop for backup and travel. We also have a mini sound studio in our home with electronic piano, mics and mixer.
  • Software for website development, mailing list management and study materials.
  • CCLI licensing (the license to use copyrighted music).
  • Promotional expenses such as printing costs, conference exhibit space, display ads, etc. (Although virtually all of our promotion and growth is through the web and forwarded emails).
  • All phases of providing this ministry takes about 5-6 hours daily. Since early 2005 I have spent far more time than this upgrading the website and email list server and preparing the messages in written and audio form (podcasts).  Brooksyne also has an increased role as she edits my writings, adds prayers and notes and plays background music for the podcasts.  We both are in many cases are able to provide follow-up ministry to those who write us in response to messages.

Our ministry vision is to increasing expand what we offer and see our family's financial needs met mostly through this ministry with the balance coming through other ministries we are involved in such as interim pastoring, guest speaking and chaplaincy roles.

If you have been blessed by our ministry and would like to provide a financial offering to assist us we would sure appreciate it!
