"Still Amazing!"

"In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding" (Ephesians 1:7,8).

Brooksyne just had an opportunity to lead a soul to Christ and we are rejoicing together.  After the individual left our home Brooksyne and I joined in prayer for this woman, that Christ will strengthen her during the inevitable times of testing and doubting that the devil will put her through.

It prompted me to play a song that I am now listening to over and over as I write. I recall a phrase from my Bible school days, concerning Christ, that says "He's still in the saving business."  Indeed He's still in the saving business in 2005 and until the end of the age He will be. His invitation, "Come unto Me" continues to go forth to all who will hear.

The song on my heart is sung by a group called Phillips, Craig and Dean. Brooksyne and I have both been deeply touched by the stirring words of their song, "Your grace still amazes me."  As I prepare this message I was drawn to Scripture texts about grace. Just going through and reading what the Word says about grace.

Wow, grace really is amazing and I never want to lose that sense! I never want to take His grace for granted nor lose the wonder. New believers have a way of refreshing the awe of the riches of God's grace that He lavished on us. And He's lavishing that grace today.

My faithful Father, enduring Friend.
Your tender mercies like a river with no end.
It overwhelms me, covers my sin.
Each time I come into your presence
I stand in wonder once again.

Your grace still amazes me,
Your love is still a mystery
Each day I fall on my knees
Cause your grace still amazes me.
Your grace still amazes me.

O patient Savior, You make me whole.
You are the author and the healer of my soul.
What can I give You? Lord, what can I say?
I know there's no way to repay you,
Only to offer you my praise.

Be encouraged today,

Stephen C. Weber

Note from Brooksyne:  My spirit is soaring as I consider the awesome grace that God lavishly gives to each one of us.  As I shared the salvation plan last night I was reminded of how powerful God's forgiveness is and that it is instantaneous; no penance is asked, only grace extended. Following the salvation prayer, the new believer said aloud exactly what I was thinking, "I have a hard time understanding how God can forgive me for everything and not hold it against me."  I admitted I don't understand His grace after serving the Lord for 35 years.  It's incomprehensible and it is amazing.  If it ceases to be amazing it isn't grace.  "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.  I once was lost but now I'm found, 'twas blind but now I see."

Phillips, Craig and Dean happen to be among my favorite music groups. Their songs have a rich theological basis and all three members are active in pastoral ministry. They have some lengthy samples of their music on their website.  Unfortunately they don't have the song I referred to today!

However, here's a short sample of that song from a choral website.

Today I will be traveling down to Maryland with a chaplain to the trucking industry to visit two chapels that are at major truck stops. I met the chaplain director five years ago when he lived in New England.  He has a passion for leading people to Christ and has many experiences of seeing god's amazing grace at work.

My Mom is back with us and doing well. She already wants to go do something!

One of my longtime internet ministry associates was featured on the 700 Club yesterday. He has a powerful story of overcoming adversity and staying faithful.

Your comments are welcome! If you are the original recipient (a member of the mailing list) merely reply to this email. If not please visit this webpage. I sure appreciate the input and read each comment and am so often encouraged.  However due to the volume of email I receive I am not necessarily able to reply personally to each one. I regret this since often readers will share a particular need or have a specific question. I certainly do pray when I receive a prayer request and often my wife Brooksyne joins me.
